00:00There have been quite a few Paul Heyman guys in the last few decades in pro wrestling,
00:05but keeping relevancy in play, the only three names that we're gonna mention here are
00:11the tippy-top ones.
00:12Yes, the top Paul Heyman guys and Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns, and CM Punk, all maybe in that
00:19order.
00:20The main reason why those pairings worked out so well was because of their real-life
00:25friendships and relationships backstage that made it easy to project them as an on-screen
00:31duo.
00:32Yes, the wise man behind a conniving plan to execute for his in-ring superstar.
00:39Sure, we've had guys like Michael McGillicuddy or Cesaro claim the Paul Heyman guy tag, but
00:46it never really worked out the same way for them.
00:48We're sure Paul Heyman, the wise man of wise men in pro wrestling, had some sort of
00:53relationship with them off-screen, but it didn't translate the same way as the others,
00:58and that wasn't either one of their faults.
01:01With Brock Lesnar, there's a factor of Heyman was with him in his early days in his career.
01:07With CM Punk, there was the whole thing where Paul Heyman vouched for him in WWE when others
01:13didn't, and was his biggest proponent and advocate behind the scenes.
01:17With Roman Reigns, they have a relationship dating back to when the tribal chief was just
01:21a baby who couldn't even speak but knew the language of pro wrestling.
01:26Not hard to see why or how so many important figures have had a connection with Paul Heyman,
01:33one of the most influential players in WWE and pro wrestling history.
01:38Three different but very personal circumstances brought them together.
01:41However, the unfortunate reality is the situations with Cesaro and Michael McGillicuddy is that
01:47WWE made almost a lot of effort really to make those partnerships progress.
01:53So who should be maybe the next Paul Heyman guy?
01:57Let's get into it.
01:58This is Sportskeeda Wrestling.
01:59I'm Kevin.
02:00Let us know who you think it should be.
02:01We have an idea.
02:02Let's get to it in this video.
02:24So what about those Paul Heyman guys that really didn't, you know, work out?
02:28In the case of Cesaro, the Swiss Cyborg specifically, his alliance with Heyman was essentially used
02:33to hype up Brock Lesnar who had just ended the Undertaker streak.
02:38Paul Heyman himself cited this as the reason for his partnership with Cesaro ending.
02:43But what if there was another guy that Paul Heyman is currently cultivating a relationship
02:49with backstage?
02:51Someone who we think is the best option to become the next Paul Heyman guy.
02:57This isn't anyone.
02:58This is someone who you truly know right away is special.
03:02This is Braun Breaker.
03:04And here's why WWE should turn him into the next Paul Heyman guy who gets the wise man
03:11stardust sprinkled upon him.
03:15Stand back.
03:16There's a new wrestling quiz coming through.
03:18Check out Brain Buster, the daily quiz that tests your WWE knowledge with winning streaks,
03:25stats, and more.
03:26It's time to see if you're up for the challenge.
03:30Braun Breaker has been wrecking through people and has been a champion in NXT, WWE's on-TV
03:35developmental territory, and it's clear that Braun Breaker from the Steiner wrestling
03:41family has a big future in the business.
03:45While there's nothing actually to confirm it, it's just a widespread speculative point
03:49about Braun Breaker being called Braun Breaker and not Braun Steiner since he's the son
03:55of Rick Steiner of the famous Steiner Brothers tag team.
03:58What's the deal there?
03:59Well, WWE apparently was doing this to distance themselves from the family name.
04:04And if you don't know why WWE would want to distance themselves from the Steiner Brothers
04:08despite them being in the Hall of Fame, let's just say because questionable things have
04:14been said and done by his father and his uncle.
04:17We'll leave it at that.
04:18Either way, he has proven to be a dominant monster of a man when the bell rings and a
04:24lot of people eye him as a future world champion.
04:27So what case does he have to become a Paul Heyman guy though?
04:30In a recent interview on Getting Over, Breaker said that he was getting help and a bit of
04:35mentorship from the likes of very important smart people in wrestling who are currently
04:40in WWE like Paul Heyman, CM Punk, and even Roman Reigns.
04:45While obviously he hasn't rubbed shoulders with Roman Reigns too frequently just yet,
04:49at least as far as we know, he's likely crossed paths with Paul Heyman more than you
04:53would think.
04:54Heck, there was even a moment when John Cena appeared on WWE NXT last year when Breaker
05:00was still there and Heyman introduced Braun Breaker on behalf of Roman Reigns.
05:07Heyman is so good that even he knows how to sell a handshake.
05:12One handshake was enough to make it seem like there's a partnership in gold waiting to
05:17be cashed in on in the future.
05:20His vision?
05:21Braun Breaker main eventing WrestleMania.
05:24As Braun made his exit from the room in that chance encounter, Paul Heyman slyly said to
05:30his phone, call Roman Reigns, almost as if he was setting things up for that future opportunity.
05:38This in our opinion was intentional, maybe even by design.
05:43A few months later, on WWE Smackdown, there was a very, very brief interaction backstage
05:48between Paul Heyman greeting ear to ear and shaking hands once again with Braun Breaker.
05:56Again, intentional, another big tease.
05:59And we're not saying that Braun Breaker has muscled his way into a confirmed 100%
06:05guaranteed spot as the next Paul Heyman guy, but let's just put it this way, forget the
06:11fact that Brock Lesnar is out of the picture for the foreseeable future.
06:14When Brock Lesnar returned in 2021, he didn't even need Paul Heyman by that point.
06:19But you must be wondering, what about the wise man's story with Roman Reigns?
06:23Paul Heyman being taken out by the new bloodline led by Solo Sokoa was a subtle way of WWE
06:30saying he's probably going to come back with a good guy, baby faced, beefed up Roman
06:35Reigns.
06:36Much like CM Punk, Roman Reigns doesn't actually need Paul Heyman to speak on his
06:40behalf, but it certainly adds something to the presentation.
06:43But his presence as the wise man, and their long time relationship in real life, adds
06:49to the story that is already being told.
06:52When Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns were the central feud heading into WrestleMania in
06:572022, Paul Heyman's loyalty was the integral part of the story.
07:00He adds a lot to it, even when you don't realize it on the surface.
07:05And yeah, try to think beyond just what's on the marquee, but what's on week-to-week
07:09TV.
07:10What if WWE decided to take the very rare route of having a breakup happen, on good
07:15terms?
07:16Yes, an amicable split?
07:19Assuming Roman Reigns is indeed a baby-faced hero when he returns, and hotter than ever
07:24because fans have been anticipating that return, he isn't going to need anyone talking for
07:29him.
07:30Heck, as a good guy, Paul Heyman's presence by his side won't exactly be necessary.
07:35Fights and wrestling are inevitable, and they're usually caused by one person turning
07:39on the other 99.99999% of the time anyway.
07:44But what if WWE did the APA-style breakup?
07:48They just had Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman end their relationship on a positive note
07:53without any drama?
07:54It would honestly be quite refreshing to see a simple backstage segment where both Roman
07:59and Paul agree they've come to an end, and they know, possibly, they could achieve
08:05different things away from each other.
08:08Because it's true, Roman Reigns has achieved pretty much everything there is except winning
08:12Money in the Bank or becoming King of the Ring.
08:15But does his legacy getting affected by not winning those really matter?
08:19No, not that much.
08:20Would Paul Heyman need to be a part of it even if he did win them?
08:24Probably not.
08:25It could be a nice, wholesome, emotional parting of ways, with Roman Reigns being aware of
08:29exactly who Paul Heyman wants to take under his wing next and wishing him the best of
08:34luck in their future endeavors.
08:37The good part about someone as talented as Paul Heyman is that even he can be slotted
08:41into the same role as long as he's able to walk and talk and do the Paul Heyman act
08:46and accentuate someone else in the process.
08:49When that split finally happens, then it would be the perfect time to introduce Braun Breaker
08:55as the next Paul Heyman guy.
08:57Like Brock Lesnar a couple of decades ago, Braun Breaker's strengths are his physicality,
09:02his dominance, his athleticism, that charisma that feels larger than life but isn't really
09:08rolling into big-time Riz territory.
09:11Not his abilities on the microphone.
09:13Need a little bit of work right there?
09:15Need a little bit of juice?
09:16Well, let's bring in the biggest talker in the history of the business, Paul Heyman,
09:20to help you along.
09:21Paul Heyman seems like the perfect fit for that possible area to fill out Braun Breaker's
09:26act and kickstart a new era for both Braun Breaker and the WWE Hall of Famer.
09:33Braun isn't going to be another Cesaro or Michael McGilligutty.
09:37He's going to be a top guy for years to come if WWE wants to speed up the process, which
09:43they likely will because he's so dominant that having Paul Heyman by his side will certainly
09:48fast-track that process.
09:51Also, being a Paul Heyman guy will push Breaker to the next level of stardom, obviously.
09:56All that needs to happen for him along the way is to be paired with a long-time, established
10:02name who gives him a little bit of those crafty tricks to get along.
10:06Perhaps we can see Heyman use his brains and influence to shoot yet another star to the
10:12world championship glory level.
10:14When Heyman said he envisioned a future where Braun Breaker was headlining a Wrestlemania,
10:18he knows a thing or two about headlining a Wrestlemania.
10:22Heyman has been ringside for 7 Wrestlemanias in the last 9 years.
10:27Just imagine that.
10:28That's the importance he has without even being an in-ring performer.
10:32That's the kind of importance that can turn Braun Breaker into what he's destined to
10:37be, a main eventer and a world champion.
10:40What do you think?
