00:00It is a hard thing when people, I understand the concern, but when everybody rushes to
00:05judgement online it can make it very hard when you're in a position like the one I hold.
00:11But it is right then though to sort of consider things, look at things in the round, hear
00:15different voices which is what I've been doing this week and then lead from the front in
00:20saying look, we've heard what people have said but now Greater Manchester wants to move
00:25forward with a thorough investigation, hopefully a swift investigation so we can get to the
00:30truth, the right actions can be taken and everybody can move forward.
00:35We've got lots of self-appointed experts in this situation online, many of whom don't
00:40live here by the way but they seem to think they're experts on the whole thing.
00:45Well all I would say to them is they're not, there's a complicated set of information here
00:49that needs to be looked at in the round but that's exactly what the IOPC need to do.
00:53Can we get back to a world where we trust the experts to look at things properly and
00:58not have a world where everyone thinks they're the judge and jury on what's happening.
01:03That is the process that is now underway and it's really important that that process is
01:08allowed to do its job without a running commentary.
01:11In looking at it there needs to be a process that is fair to everybody involved, everyone
01:18involved in that incident and that's the way this country should be isn't it, where there
01:22is an opportunity for everyone to explain the situation from their perspective.
01:28That's exactly now what needs to happen rather than as I say a running commentary with people
01:34sort of passing judgement here or there.
01:39We've got to move beyond this world where people get proclaimed guilty by social media.
