Kira Noir sat down with us on the set of our latest spotlight film Kira vs Kira.

00:00So the way that I chose my stage name was by keeping the name that I was already asking

00:22people to call me by.

00:23I've been asking people to call me Kira since about 2009, 2010, just because it was my favorite

00:32anime character's fake name and I thought that it would be really cool if it was also

00:35my fake name.

00:36And what really made me start asking people to call me Kira was for Death Note, the anime,

00:43they used Maximum the Hormone, the band, to do the songs for the opening and the closing.

00:48And there was one season where the closing song was, the English translation is Billy

00:52in Despair.

00:53And whenever you watch the music video, you see at the end they start screaming, my name

00:59is Kira, even you're Kira, and all the characters are dying and there's a guy holding a place

01:03card thing that says Kira on it.

01:05And I thought that was badass, and so I started asking people to call me Kira.

01:08Then I started camming when I was about 18, 19, and I started going by Kira Fire.

01:17So I thought that was going to be my stage name whenever I first got into studio porn,

01:22but my first agent asked me to change my name because it was too close to Jada Fire.

01:27So at first I was like, okay, what about Kira Black?

01:30And he said I couldn't because there's already a Tori Black.

01:32So I Googled French for Black and Noir came up and so I asked if I could do that and he

01:36said yes.

01:38And so I've been Kira Noir ever since.

01:41So if I was going to go by the old game where you pick like your first pet's name and the

01:46street you grew up on for your porn name, my porn name would be Midnight Anderson, which

01:51isn't bad.

01:52I feel like that's kind of hot.

01:55I am second generation nerd.

01:57I was raised by a guy who loves comic books and live action role playing and Star Trek

02:02and Star Wars, pretty much anything to do with fantasy.

02:07My favorite author is Brandon Sanderson.

02:09I first started reading his books when he came out with the Mistborn trilogy, and then

02:13I kept reading whenever he took over for the Wheel of Time series.

02:16And when it comes to comic books, I mostly remember the stuff that my dad used to read

02:20me.

02:21So a lot of Fantastic Four, Static Shock, Teen Titans.

02:25And I'm really excited for the next phase of Marvel because I actually know what's going

02:28on.

02:29I like to see all my friends arguing about like, why did they bring this person in?

02:31Why are they talking about the multiverse and all of that?

02:34If you read the comics, you know where they're going and it's going to be great.

02:36I'm really excited.

02:38And lately, what I like doing is playing Magic the Gathering, Dungeons and Dragons and live

02:43action role playing when I can with friends.

02:46Anybody who's done D&D or LARPing knows that you have to be able to show up regularly for

02:51your group and it's a little hard to stick with a group if you can't commit to going

02:55regularly.

02:56And it makes total sense.

02:57I don't hold it against anybody because you have to be able to show up and continue the

03:01storyline with everyone.

03:02If you're not there, then it just fucks up the whole storyline because then why is that

03:05character not there?

03:06So I get to go in and do little short campaigns whenever I can find people that are okay with

03:11that.

03:12But I really miss doing longer campaigns.

03:15I do cosplay sometimes.

03:18The last time I cosplayed was at the Anime Expo in LA.

03:21I was Goku and that was a lot of fun because I didn't try to do the hair in any way.

03:27I just kept my dreads and I tried to just be like a slutty, what is it, Rule 64 Goku

03:32when it's genderbent.

03:33So that was really cool.

03:35I've also cosplayed as Lucio from Overwatch because he also has dreads.

03:41I have a couple of other costumes that fans have gifted me over the years that I know

03:46are from different animes, but I haven't really watched them yet so I don't feel right wearing

03:49them yet.

03:50And what I really want to cosplay as is Hestia from Is It Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon.

03:56I just need to find a dress that'll fit because she has this little white dress and then this

04:01blue ribbon that goes around her arms.

04:03It's super fucking cute.

04:05I usually try to go to cons whenever I can.

04:08Unfortunately, just because of how the world's been lately, I haven't been able to go to

04:10a lot.

04:12But when I do go, I usually will try to wear an all-over face mask kind of thing so people

04:16can't see me at first.

04:19And I want to start going more to cons actually dressed up and actually as me, as Kira, so

04:24I can interact with more fans.

04:25Because the last time I went to the anime expo, a lot of people recognized me and it

04:28wasn't as scary as I thought it was going to be.

04:30It was really nice.

04:31I don't get a lot of recognition in public.

04:37Sometimes people will just kind of double take and try to figure out why they think

04:39I look familiar.

04:41But I think what happened was for the last two years, people have been at home more and

04:46on their phones more.

04:47And I think just generally jerking off more.

04:50And my popularity exploded during these last two years.

04:53I thank you all for jerking off to me, but I think that it wasn't until people had more

04:59time to spend watching porn that I started getting recognized more often in person.

05:05So I tend to not watch my own movies.

05:08I'm one of those people that doesn't like the sound of my own voice in recordings.

05:11So if I do watch my own stuff, I'll usually watch it with the sound off like most people.

05:16And if I watch something all the way through, it's usually more of the stuff that I've done

05:21that has acting because I want to see the rest of the story.

05:25Sometimes I'm in these big movies with huge storylines and what I did was just a small

05:29part of it.

05:30So if I want to see everything all played out and all come together, I have to watch

05:33the whole thing.

05:36Something I value a lot with porn directors is knowing when to lead.

05:40There are some directors now that in an effort to be very nice and accommodating, they kind

05:45of just let everybody run all over them on set.

05:47So people will be talking and chit-chatting and just kind of hanging out or taking pictures

05:51or going to eat and we need to get focused on getting things done.

05:55I appreciate it when a director knows that fine line between just yelling at everybody

06:00and letting everybody do whatever they want and just being like, hey, come on, let's go,

06:05let's get things done in a firm way that isn't disrespectful.

06:08That way everybody can get what they need to do accomplished and we can have a great

06:11scene.

06:14Something I like a lot in a co-star is communication.

06:17I have a little bit of anxiety and I'm pretty awkward in real life.

06:22So I love it when people give me the cheat codes to how to make them feel good.

06:26It's always fun whenever you meet somebody and things just click, but I love it when

06:30someone's like, this is how I like my dick rub.

06:32This is how I like my balls tug.

06:33This is how I like to be kissed.

06:35This is the dirty talk that I like and just tell me everything that they want.

06:37And then during the scene, like pull your ass more this way.

06:40Look at me, like talk shit.

06:41Like if you give me instructions, that makes me so horny because then I can just follow

06:46instructions and know that I'm doing well instead of guessing and wondering if I'm doing

06:49okay.

06:51I think what makes a good porn movie is a lot of different moving parts.

06:57You have to have a good director, somebody who knows what shots to get, when to get them,

07:00when to call it quits, when to keep going.

07:03You have to have good co-stars that know how to communicate with each other and know

07:06their angles, know how to open up to the camera and give a good performance.

07:10You have to have people behind the cameras, behind sound, who know how to capture everything

07:14in a clear way that makes it so the people watching can enjoy everything that's happening.

07:17You have to have good editors that know what to cut out, what to keep in, how to spice

07:21things together so it all makes sense.

07:22You have to have good distributors so everybody can see it.

07:25People really don't realize how many jobs go into just making one porn scene.

07:29It's insane.

07:31I'm trying to pick just one.

07:33I don't think I could do that.

07:35I have considered being a director.

07:37I would have to get a lot more knowledge on how to actually shoot at first.

07:42I know what it takes to be a performer, but it doesn't always translate directly to going

07:48to the other side of the camera.

07:49You have to know a lot more about how cameras work.

07:51You have to also, like I said earlier, know how to be a good leader.

07:55I'm sometimes a little timid and afraid of confrontation, so I would need to be better

07:59at telling everybody to shut the fuck up and start working before I could ever hope

08:04to direct and get things done in a timely manner.

08:06I would love that in the future, but I don't think I'm ready yet.

08:10The person I look up to most in the industry is Skin Diamond, which is why the showcase

08:15is so amazing for me personally.

08:17The first DVD that I ever bought for porn was Skin, directed by LT, distributed by Elegant

08:23Angel.

08:24And to have my own showcase years and years later, also directed by LT, also distributed

08:30by Elegant Angel, that's huge for me.

08:33She was the first skinny alternative black girl that I saw in porn.

08:37She was also one of the first girls in porn that I saw laughing and enjoying herself and

08:41taking control in scenes.

08:43The first pornos I saw, it was a lot of girls getting tossed around and kind of used, which

08:47could be really fun, but to see somebody being a real active participant and having fun and

08:52smiling with the bright pink hair and the shaved sides, that was so dope to me.

08:57So I'm really, really happy that I'm able to do anything even kind of like her and have

09:01a showcase like this.

09:04So the best sex tip that I can give anyone is to please communicate, and that goes both

09:10ways.

09:11You need to be able to tell other people what you want and what your boundaries are, but

09:15you also need to be able to foster a space that gives people the comfortability to tell

09:21you what they want.

09:22Ask questions, tell them that you love it whenever they tell you what they want.

09:25If anybody is too shy with you and they're not really great at speaking up, if they give

09:29you even a little bit, give them a lot of praise, give them a lot of attention for that.

09:34That way they know that it's okay and it's good to keep doing that kind of thing with

09:37you.

09:38Once you have open communication going both ways, the sex is amazing.
