DCC's Victoria Kalina Explains the Major Difference Between Filming CMT and Netflix Show

00:00We got to talk about the Netflix show being a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader.

00:04I have so many questions.

00:05My first one is just when you found out that Netflix was doing this show, because obviously

00:09CMT had done stuff with the Cowboys before.

00:12When you found out Netflix was doing America's Sweetheart, what was your initial reaction?

00:16I honestly, honestly, I was really like, oh God, another show.

00:22That's where I was like, oh no, just because I feel like my experience with CMT was a very

00:27PTSD.

00:29Like being called into the office so many times, I was like, yeah.

00:33So definitely I was just like, okay, this is going to be questionable just because we

00:38didn't know really exactly what route they were going to take and what the storyline

00:42was going to be.

00:43If it was going to be kind of like CMT, where it was very drama scene.

00:47Cutthroat.

00:48Yes.

00:49Exactly.

00:50Exactly.

00:51But the more, like the first day that they filmed with us, they were so lovely and they

00:58were just very much kind of like, it almost felt like a vlog where it was just like on

01:02the fly, very casual.

01:05And the producer, Greg, he is amazing.

01:07The crew was amazing.

01:08All the cameramen, all the mic people, and they just really made you feel comfortable.

01:12So I think it was after, they weren't with us like throughout the whole football season.

01:17They came in like little spurts, and each visit that they came, it just like got so

01:23much better.

01:24Okay, that's so interesting.

01:25So it's a lot a little bit more like the whole process and maybe about like your personal

01:28stories versus just like the tryouts, which is obviously very fun for us to watch, but

01:32very stressful for you guys.

01:33Yes.

01:34Well, even the producer, Greg, he came in and he told us his intentions about like what

01:39his goals was.

01:41He told us to reference back to cheer if he, we like wanted to see anything or get like

01:45a good point of view of what he was going for.

01:49And after that, I was like, okay, my goal now is just to be like the honest, true Victoria.

01:56Right.

01:57And so that's what I had going into it.
