00:0037-year-old Alan John Mattis pleaded guilty to 25 family violence charges against his
00:08on-again, off-again partner.
00:10The offences included 11 counts of sexual intercourse without consent, several assault
00:15charges and single counts of choking, capturing intimate images and distributing them.
00:21Agreed facts tended to the ACT Supreme Court revealed Mattis filled most of the offences
00:26on the victim's phone, while she was drug-affected and at times unconscious.
00:32When handing down the sentence, Justice Chrissa Lucas-Carlson said no woman deserves to be
00:37subject of this appalling treatment.
00:40She went on to say men and women are human beings, you cannot treat a fellow human being
00:46like a piece of meat.
00:48Justice Lucas-Carlson said the offender showed guarded prospects of rehabilitation and urged
00:53him to use his jail time as a wake-up call.
00:56With time already served, Mattis will be eligible for parole in October 2031.
