00:00Thank you, Secretary.
00:02Is the Secret Service stretched too thin?
00:06The Secret Service in times like this calls upon other resources and capabilities to handle
00:14a campaign of this magnitude.
00:16This has been the case each and every presidential campaign.
00:20We draw upon resources not only across the federal government, but with state and local
00:26law enforcement.
00:27And I do intend to speak with members of the Hill with respect to the resources that
00:32we need.
00:33And a few House Republicans have suggested that this was an inside job, that this administration
00:38or the Secret Service wanted Donald Trump to get shot.
00:42There are conspiracy theories proliferating online.
00:45How do you feel, how does the rank and file feel when they hear that?
00:49So let me just say this.
00:51First of all, that is preposterous, and it is also dangerous to propagate rumors that
00:58are so unequivocally false and provocative.
01:02And as the President so powerfully said to the entire nation, we have to tamp down the
01:08rhetoric in this country.
01:11The rhetoric itself creates a threat environment that really is quite dynamic and evolving.
