00:00The world's challenge now is how to balance the need to use plastic materials,
00:06but at the same time, plastic also poses a threat to life and also to the environment.
00:13Imagine if we use a lot of plastic bottles, even though we already have a base,
00:21but we can't avoid using plastic.
00:24So this is already known in the world.
00:27But at the same time, the challenge is when it comes to microplastics,
00:32where it is processed, thrown away, etc.
00:35Sometimes it is eaten by animals,
00:38and the animals will return to us for us to eat.
00:41And sometimes it is also deposited in the air, in the river,
00:48and it enters our drinking water.
00:51Even though it is processed, it is not lost because the particles are too small.
00:57And in the end, we drink it.
00:59And sometimes we eat it.
01:01Sometimes we breathe it, and it enters our body.
01:11So the world's development says that microplastics are now in the human body.
01:22So this is a new threat that we need to face.
01:26And how do we ensure the safety of Malaysia in the context of all the microplastics, etc.
01:34And we want to eliminate it.
01:35Indeed, in the world, we have not been able to eliminate the use of plastic as a necessity at the same time.
01:41So this balance is what we have to focus on,
01:45on how to mitigate these risks.
01:49How do we overcome or mitigate so that we can overcome the risks of plastic waste.
01:59So this is the seminar held by NARIN,
02:02with the involvement of all industry players, ministries and agencies involved,
02:07to see and also share experiences from international bodies, experts.
02:14And it is hoped that with this program,
02:16we will finally be able to know the situation in Malaysia
02:21with the research that is being done in four rivers.
02:24What are the foundations in the future that we can lay to the government
02:30to deal with new challenges in the context of microplastics?
