00:00Bursatu President Muhyiddin Yassin says he does not expect the party's top posts to

00:07be contested in the party polls this October following negotiations among the leadership.

00:12He said a motion had been tabled several months ago asking him to intervene and negotiate

00:16the matter to prevent any division within the party.

00:20In his speech at the party's convention, he said it shows a spirit of give-and-take

00:23among the top leadership.

00:25Muhyiddin said a formal announcement on the matter will be made before candidates are

00:29nominated.

00:31The deputy president's post is expected to be the highlight of Bursatu's elections

00:34this October after Muhyiddin had previously confirmed that he will remain as party president.

00:40Ahmad Faizal Azumu, who has held the post since 2020, is expected to be challenged by

00:45Secretary General Hamza Zaynuddin under Articles 14.14 and 14.16 of the party's constitution.

00:53Bursatu announced that members wishing to contest the October elections must apply

00:57to the Supreme Council, as per the said articles.

01:00Hamza was previously not eligible to contest for any of the top five posts as he had not

01:05served two terms as a Supreme Council member, as required under the party's constitution.
