Delta Air Lines expects to lose $100 million in revenue as travelers avoid Paris during the 2024 Summer Olympics in July and August. Delta has the most flights of any U.S. airline to Paris and operates a joint venture with Air France. Business travel and other tourism to Paris is expected to be lower during the Olympics, with travelers going elsewhere or postponing trips. Air France-KLM also expects a revenue hit of up to $195 million due to avoidance of Paris during the Olympics period. Delta’s president noted on an earnings call that travelers increasingly take European vacations outside the traditional summer season, offering airlines opportunities to increase revenue during off-peak times.
