Animals in the capital Sofia's main zoo are cooling off with ice cream as the region endures more high temperatures.

00:10His caretaker keeps sighting it in a different place, but the 12-year-old bear keeps finding it.

00:16The cooling down and playfulness is an attempt to imitate the behavior of animals in their natural habitat.

00:30It's important for the animals not to stand still and jump,

00:36but to be given methods and ways to move, to look for food and just to imitate their behavior in the wild.

00:51Elephants Frosje and Louise's favorite way to cool off in the summer is by taking a shower.

00:56And the Adax, a type of antelope, can easily spend the whole season lying in the sun.

01:02Apes Pico and Bloom love the heat, but they also love ice cream.

01:21The animals are adapted to each season.

01:26The elephants, the giants and some of the herbivores wear jackets.

01:30I can say that our animals are adapted to our climatic conditions.

01:35And in general, they cope well with temperatures, both in the winter and in the summer.

01:41How do you adapt them to different seasons and different temperatures?

01:45We just stand still here, it shows an effect,

01:49and their systems or morphology make them adapt to the heat and the cold.
