00:30Kimberly and James Dean.
00:35It is the first day of fall
00:37and Pete the cat is feeling blue.
00:40I like summer better, he says.
00:43In summer, I can swim and surf and play at the beach.
00:49Maybe you just need to remind yourself
00:52of all the things you love about autumn, mom suggests.
00:56Hmm, Pete says.
00:58I'll try.
01:01Pete finds grandma in the kitchen.
01:06She's baking delicious pumpkin pies.
01:09The whole house smells sweet and spicy.
01:13Pete loves helping grandma bake pumpkin pie,
01:16but he loves helping eat it even more.
01:23After the baking is done,
01:25Pete picks a squat orange pumpkin from the counter
01:29and slips it into his backpack as a souvenir.
01:36Next, Pete heads to the town corn maze.
01:39Pete and his friends wander through the long,
01:42twisty paths made of tall corn stalks.
01:45The best part of the corn maze is getting lost
01:49and having to start over again.
01:55As he leaves, Pete plucks a golden corn cob
01:59from the maze and places it inside his backpack.
02:06Then Pete visits grandpa, who is knitting on the porch.
02:10Grandpa helps Pete use the knitting needles
02:12to knit the yarn into cool patterns.
02:16Together, Pete and grandpa make a long,
02:19cozy scarf for Pete to wear.
02:25When they're done,
02:26Pete chooses a little ball of leftover yarn
02:29and places it inside his backpack.
02:36Next, Pete goes to the hay ride at the park.
02:39Pete, Bob, mom, dad, and grandpa
02:42all pile into a wagon filled with hay.
02:45They go on a bumpy wagon ride around the park.
02:48Woo-hoo, Pete shouts.
02:51At the end of the ride, Pete grabs a handful
02:55of sweet-smelling hay from the wagon
02:57and stuffs it into his backpack.
03:03Pete heads over to the apple orchard,
03:05where he and Callie go apple picking.
03:09They eat sweet apple doughnuts and drink hot apple cider
03:13and fill their buckets with apples
03:15of all different shapes and sizes.
03:18Before he leaves, Pete chooses a round red apple
03:22and drops it into his backpack.
03:27Next, Pete stops by the park.
03:30He plays touch football with Bob and their friends.
03:33Pete scores a touchdown, and everyone cheers.
03:39After the game, Pete and Callie go to the park.
03:43Pete and Callie go to the park
03:46After the game, Pete grabs Bob's football
03:50and stuffs it into his backpack.
03:52It barely fits.
03:54Bob won't mind if I borrow this, Pete says.
04:01Finally, Pete heads back home,
04:04but he stops in his front yard,
04:06which is covered in bright leaves falling from the trees.
04:10Pete helps his dad rake the leaves
04:12into big, colorful mounds.
04:14Then Pete runs and jumps into all the leaf piles.
04:21After he's done jumping, Pete picks a bunch of red
04:25and gold and orange leaves
04:27and stuffs them into his backpack.
04:33Pete's backpack is bursting with fall souvenirs.
04:37He can't wait to show mom.
04:39I love autumn, Pete says.
04:43Wonderful, says mom.
04:45You know, these would make great decorations
04:48for Thanksgiving.
04:53So Pete helps mom fill a basket with all his mementos.
04:58They place the basket at the center of the table.
05:01You did a great job, Pete, says mom.
05:04It's beautiful, says dad.
05:07Is that my football?
05:09Asks Bob.
05:11Just then, the doorbell rings.
05:16The Thanksgiving guests are here.
05:19All of Pete's family and friends
05:21gather around the dining room table.
05:24They tell stories and laugh at jokes while they eat.
05:27Everyone is having a great time.
05:30Pete looks around the table and smiles.
05:32He loves lots of things about autumn,
05:35but Pete knows what he loves most all year long.
05:42His family and friends.
