The operating licence of the company whose tour bus crashed in Genting Highlands, killing two Chinese tourists, has been cancelled.

The Land Public Transport Agency (Apad) said its Licence Cancellation and Suspension Committee decided to cancel the operating licence of M. Kumar Trans Tour Sdn Bhd, including any vehicle permits issued to it, immediately.

00:10The Land Public Transport Agency in a statement said,
00:13its Licence Cancellation and Suspension Committee decided to cancel the operating licence
00:19of M Kumar Trans Tour Sendirian Berhad, including any vehicle permits issued to it, immediately.
00:26Investigations revealed that the company did not comply with the statutory licensing
00:31requirements that had been set. The company also has a high number of past summonses.
00:37The Land Public Transport Agency also reminded companies to monitor the performance of their
00:43vehicle drivers continuously, so to ensure their welfare was maintained at all times.
00:48On June 29, a tour bus carrying 18 Chinese tourists,
00:52a tour guide, and two drivers crashed at kilometre 16.6 of Jalan Guernting Highlands
00:59in Bentong, Pahang. Two Chinese tourists were killed in the incident.
01:04Following the incident, an investigation involving various agencies under the Transport Ministry
01:10was carried out to identify the cause of the incident,
01:13and ensure that these can be avoided in the future.
