00:00Jimmy, a disappointing day with the bat, particularly today.

00:05What do you put the struggles down to today?

00:08I think they were fairly bowling-friendly conditions

00:13prior to and just after lunch,

00:16and added to that I think England really exploited the conditions really well.

00:20They were consistent, they got the ball to swing,

00:23they didn't give us many freebies,

00:26and maybe a little bit of inexperience on our part as well.

00:30So I think a combination of those issues.

00:33I guess you'd have expected Jimmy to come out firing today,

00:38Jimmy Anderson, on his last test.

00:40Were you expecting the show that Gus Atkinson put in on debut?

00:44I think the England attack, all of their bowling attacks are world-class bowlers.

00:51We haven't seen Gus bowl,

00:53he's done pretty well in county cricket this season so far,

00:56and he really put up a good show,

00:58held his hand up and had pretty much a dream debut, I think.

01:02And from the position that you find yourselves in after Day 1,

01:06can you find a route back into this test match over the next few days?

01:10Well, we try. It's going to be difficult,

01:13but this is what Test Cricket is all about.

01:15You have a bad day, you're going to have to think about it,

01:19roll your sleeves up and come back on Day 2

01:21and try and work your way back into the test match.

01:24So we have seven wickets to get first of all,

01:27and then hopefully bat for two days plus,

01:30see where we are at the end of it.

01:37Hey Jimmy, this is Varam Kazi from Pro Sports.

01:40So there's been a lot of hue and cry over the non-selection of Kevin Sinclair,

01:46and Kudu Keshmoti was preferred because he is a front-line,

01:49slow left-arm, orthodox spinner.

01:51What would you have to say about that selection call?

01:53Because a lot of people are saying that the batting depth

01:55could have been enhanced had Sinclair been in the line-up.

01:58Yeah, you can't take away the impact that he had

02:02in his debut test in Australia.

02:05However, we felt that on this surface,

02:07our best attack would have been the four seamers who played

02:10and our number one spinner, who is Kudu Keshmoti.

02:13It's good to know that we have someone with the talent

02:17and ability of Kevin, and his time might come.

02:20But for now, we thought that this was our strongest team for this surface.

02:24And just on the debutant opener, Mikael Louis,

02:28he looked mad impressive at the start, and he scored that six as well.

02:32Do you think that he's someone that could represent West Indies in the long run?

02:36We're keeping our fingers crossed.

02:38It's not easy finding quality openers at international level.

02:41He's a young man who's done very well in the regionals

02:45that finished in April this year.

02:47He deserves to be here, and we're keeping our fingers crossed

02:50that we have found a long-term opening partner for the captain

02:56and somebody who will serve West Indies for a long time.

03:15I was saying that in Australia we saw West Indies batters

03:18kind of showing the composure and the basic sticking and the discipline.

03:21Do you agree that at some point some of those batters

03:25missed out on that today of converting good starts?

03:31I think there was a combination.

03:33I think there were some good deliveries that were bold.

03:36I think in a couple of instances,

03:40batsmen's hands might have gone too far out in front

03:43for conditions like this and against the type of bowling that we had.

03:47But I would qualify that by saying that

03:52for young men who've never toured England,

03:55and certainly with the exception of the captain and Jason Hall,

03:59have never batted in conditions like this.

04:02I think it's a real searching examination,

04:05but I'll keep saying that for a young team and a young batting line-up,

04:09I'd rather they learn these lessons early in their careers

04:12and they can reflect, hopefully find short-term answers,

04:17but I think it will make them better players going forward.

04:20There's nothing to me like an England tour in English conditions

04:24to find out, first of all, where you are as a batter,

04:28but also to help you to improve as well.
