00:00Hi, I'm Sophie May-Lanmay-Lin and here are today's headlines.
00:06The Great Yorkshire Show is much more than just about farming. Yes, as the Great Yorkshire
00:12Show kicks off today at Harrogate Showground, we share why it's more than just an agricultural
00:18festival.
00:21When it comes to the Great Yorkshire Show, it really does show the best of the agricultural
00:26world here in Yorkshire. But not only that, it shows our vast countrysides, our diverse
00:34population and there is so much more to enjoy about the show at the showground. Today it
00:40kicks off officially with Helen Skelton speaking to Christine Talbot on the main stage.
00:47Following several delays to the Woodsmith project, the Yorkshire Post can reveal that
00:52360 jobs will be cut.
00:57The number of people employed on the Woodsmith project in North Yorkshire by shaft sinking
01:02contractor Redpath is dropping from 730 to 370, a loss of 360 roles.
01:11Our columnist Andrew Vine also writes about the Great Yorkshire Show, how whilst it will
01:17be a celebration of farming, there's something much more serious that some of the people
01:22involved will be discussing.
01:25Andrew Vine claims that the Tories let down the agricultural world. He also says that
01:31the Labour government's attitude towards agriculture will undoubtedly be debated by many attending
01:38this event and one of the main briefs will be rural crime.
01:44For all that and more, don't forget to subscribe to the Yorkshire Post online and in print.
01:49Have a great day.
