00:13The famed wrestler-turned-actor shares why he will be retiring from World Wrestling Entertainment

00:21The 47-year-old who joined WWE in 2001 announces that he will be retiring after the 2025 season.

00:30John explains his decision during a July 6th appearance at Money in the Bank 2024 in Toronto, Canada.

00:38Tonight, I officially announce my retirement from the WWE.

00:46The 2025 Royal Rumble will be my last.

00:54The 2025 Elimination Chamber will be my last.

01:00And I'm here tonight to announce that in Las Vegas, WrestleMania 2025 will be the last WrestleMania I compete in.

01:17The 47-year-old goes on to thank Canadian WWE fans for sticking by the organization through its ebbs and flows

01:25and notes that his retirement coincides with the historic move of WWE's Monday Night Raw program to Netflix.

01:36What an incredible gesture of kindness.

01:40I want to say thank you.

01:46Thank you so much for letting me play in the house that you built for so many years.

01:56Thank you so much always for your voice, because it's really loud, and your honesty, because it's beautifully brutal.

02:10But most of all, thank you so much for allowing me to be here with you tonight,

02:16to let the whole world know that we are planning something unforgettable,

02:22which also involves me returning to Toronto to kick some ass!

02:31Although John has operated in a part-time capacity with the WWE since 2018,

02:38he has earned 16 world titles since his debut with the program in 2001.

02:44After announcing his next career move to the crowd,

02:47John says that he will always be part of the WWE family at a press conference following the event.

02:55WWE is my home, and I love it.

02:58Just because I physically feel I'm at my end doesn't mean I need to distance myself from something I love.

03:05I look forward to ending my participation in the ring in the best way that I can,

03:11and being a member of the WWE extended family for quite some time.
