‘Adult crime, adult time’: QLD opposition leader announces strict youth offender policy

If the Liberal National Party wins the October state election, David Crisafulli announced he will enforce a policy where youth offenders will be tried as adults for serious crimes.

00:06Things like removing detention as a last resort,

00:09embedding in sentencing that the rights of the victim

00:12should come before the rights of the offender.

00:14If you murder someone, that's an adult crime, adult time.

00:19If you wound someone, adult crime, adult time.

00:26If you violate the sanctity of someone's home

00:29and you break in and rob them, well, adult crime, adult time.

00:34Other initial offences will include manslaughter,

00:37serious assault, grievous bodily harm,

00:40dangerous operation and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
