00:00This video was recently captured on the body cam of a police officer in Las Vegas, Nevada.
00:05The air temperature outside had climbed to 100 degrees,
00:08meaning temperatures inside vehicles can well exceed even that.
00:12Which is why one officer with the LVMPD jumped to action,
00:15when two dogs were found inside a vehicle on the scorching day.
00:19You know whose vehicle this is?
00:22Okay, well they left two animals inside,
00:24so I'm gonna have to start breaking windows if no one else knows whose it is.
00:28The officer cannot find the owner of the car,
00:31so she does what any good Samaritan would do and breaks the window.
00:38The dogs inside were reportedly panting heavily,
00:40with the officer on the scene saying temperatures inside the vehicle were at around 110 degrees.
00:46After the dogs were freed from the car,
00:48pee pads were discovered on the floor within,
00:50which the police department said in a statement.
00:53It was later discovered that the owner of the vehicle
00:55intended to leave the dogs in there for an extended period of time.
00:59In Las Vegas, pet owners are required by law to provide food,
01:02fresh water and cooling devices when the temperatures climb over 105 degrees.
01:07Animals are also not allowed to be tethered outside during National Weather Service heat advisories.
01:12With the police department saying in a statement,
01:15it goes without saying leaving pets in a car even for a couple of minutes is a crime.
