00:00Climate change is driving summer temperatures higher and higher.
00:03You probably know that that's bad for your health, but it's not great for your car either.
00:07Extreme heat can cause all sorts of issues with automobiles.
00:10For example, Birmingham's WBRC quotes Clay Ingram of AAA Alabama as saying,
00:15if you have a pretty big heat wave, it can kill your battery.
00:18Heat can also affect tire pressure.
00:21In fact, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram says that tires can fluctuate by 1 PSI
00:25for every 10 degrees Celsius change in the temperature, and that could lead to a blowout.
00:30Your engine and other parts of the car's internal system aren't safe either.
00:34Tracy Peters of Paul's Automotive in Sacramento told ABC10 there,
00:38anytime you have an overheating situation,
00:40we recommend that you do not drive the vehicle, have it towed somewhere.
00:43By continuing to drive a vehicle while it's overheated, it could cause damage to your engine.
00:48Experts also recommend getting your car checked out regularly to catch any problems ahead of time,
00:52especially when it's hot out.
