Sneak peek at new Salvation Army donation centre in Mansfield

Take a first look inside Mansfield’s new Salvation Army donation centre, located in the former Frankie & Benny's restaurant on Portland Retail Park.

00:00Hi I'm Claire, I'm the manager of the new Salvation Army donation centre up at the

00:05Portland Retail Park in Mansfield, just opposite Burger King. We are really excited about our new

00:13site and excited to help with support with the local Salvation Army that is based on Victoria

00:18Street in Mansfield itself. We're working closely with the Salvation Army, we've got support with

00:25their food bank, helping support with the homeless provisions that they provide,

00:30and this is for local organisations that need help with homeless provisions,

00:38books, any other donations that we can resource. We want this site to be a huge part of the

00:45community and we're really excited about this being a positive impact on the local community.

00:52As a donation centre we will be offering a collection and delivery service, so

00:59anybody wanting to donate furniture then we're more than happy to collect and that is free of

01:04charge. Any purchasers of furniture within the donation centre, again we can deliver that.

01:11Within the donation centre we sell things from bric-a-brac, clothes, ladies clothes,

01:16men's clothes, children's clothes, and we've got books, a huge range of electrical appliances,

01:24huge range of toys and games, jigsaws, shoes, handbags, jewellery, watches, we've got a huge

01:32variety of fantastic stuff. All of which we couldn't achieve without fabulous donations,

01:38sorted correctly with our fabulous volunteers that we're really, really

01:43positive about. We really want to encourage people to volunteer within the local area,

01:48there's huge opportunity to learn about retail, make friends, learn the till, there's huge

01:54opportunity within the donation centre to have a huge amount of volunteers and this is something

02:00that we feel that would have a real positive impact on the local community again. We're

02:05really excited to open to our general public and we hope that we provide a donation centre

02:11for the Mansfield area that is a success. And please don't forget to join us at 10am

02:18on the 18th of July for our opening day. We can't wait to see you all.
