Hampden league under 23 football coach Jonathan Brown speaks following his side's interleague loss to Ballarat.

00:00Yeah, absolutely, yeah, it was great involvement again and participation for all the boys,

00:08they were keen as must to represent the Bottle Greens and it was a nice night, it was a bit

00:13fresh but Ballarat are too strong for us in the second half especially.

00:18We competed really well, I can't fault the effort of the boys.

00:21Yeah, absolutely, no question about it so, their attitude, effort, A1.

00:29You know, we just, we made some mistakes throughout the game, especially their kicking skills

00:34and they were able to take quite a lot of intercept marks and launch their attacks in

00:38that way.

00:39We started off the game well, scoreboard wise, we dominated out of set amounts but they were

00:44able to balance things up especially in the second half and just, the scoreboard just

00:48got away from us.

00:49Yeah, he did, yeah, he's fantastic I thought and played some midfield time in forward as

00:56well, they hit the scoreboard.

00:58He was, I thought he was, his four quarter performance was, probably deserved to be our

01:03best player.

01:04Has he been able to compete as you said in the lead up to the game and all that?

01:08Yeah, no doubt about it so, we had a great training week, trained at D.C.

01:13Farron Oval in Moorlake on Tuesday, Reid Oval here on Thursday and we had quite a few boys

01:19from the 91 state championship team, the Hampton League, turned up to dinner on Thursday night

01:25so that was great for the younger fellas to see, clearly Michael Pollock, his son Oscar

01:29was playing so, no that was fantastic to see and obviously shows off our proud tradition.

01:36Hopefully we can turn the table, as I say we were defeated today but we'll continue

01:43to push on and hopefully next campaign we can come out on top.

01:48Do you think it's a very good chance to come back and get an extra year pass?

01:51Absolutely, I think it's a great concept, you know the under 23's provides a great

01:57opportunity and platform for the youngsters in the league to really show their wares and

02:02show off their talents.
