00:26Changing a bike tire is a hard job.

00:29And if your tire is flat, like the tire on Marcelo's bike, it's even harder to ride.

00:34Who knows what kind of tool is good for taking off a tire like this?

00:39A hammer! A hammer can bang it out!

00:42No, Pat. Not a hammer.

00:44The best tool for taking off this tire is a socket wrench.

00:48Of course! Claro que sí!

00:50Wonderful!

00:53Does anyone know why we need a socket wrench?

00:56Oh! Oh! I know! I know this one!

00:58Pat?

01:07A socket wrench has a special slot, or socket, that has six sides.

01:14Sí! And I fit tight over a six-sided nut!

01:17That's right, Tix!

01:19Bueno. It is my turn.

01:22A socket wrench also has a special mechanism called a ratchet.

01:28That's so I can only turn the nut in one direction.

01:33Sí. In this direction, nothing happens.

01:36But in the other direction, I can loosen the nut.

01:45But the nut's just spinning around!

01:48That's right, Rusty. Does anyone know why?

01:51Oh! Oh! Oh! Um, does it have anything to do with hammers?

02:01To remove a nut like this, you need two socket wrenches.

02:06One on each side.

02:09I'll hold the nut steady, and I'll turn the other one loose.

02:25Now all we do is put on a new tire.
