00:00The iPhone 16 Pro Max is getting a pretty big upgrade.
00:03No, seriously, it's actually physically getting bigger
00:06in some areas.
00:07And so in this video,
00:08we're gonna go over five of the biggest changes
00:10coming to the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
00:13Now, starting with size,
00:14we are expecting the iPhone 16 Pro Max
00:17to jump up a little bit from 6.7 to 6.9 inches in size.
00:21And that's not going to be just a reduction in bezels
00:23or just for the screen.
00:24The phone is actually going to get a little bit taller
00:27and a little bit wider than last year's iPhone 15 Pro Max.
00:31While thickness will remain the same,
00:34the weight will increase slightly due to the larger size.
00:37If accurate, it would be the first iPhone size increase
00:40since the iPhone 12 series,
00:41but it would also be another blow
00:43to those who prefer a smaller device.
00:45Now, if you're going for the iPhone 15 or 16 Pro Max,
00:49you probably like or prefer bigger devices,
00:51but it could be very well
00:53that that's your absolute maximum.
00:54And now moving from 6.7 to 6.9,
00:58it'll be interesting to see if people will come down
00:59to the iPhone 16 Pro instead.
01:01Next, we have the bigger display.
01:03And we did just mention that the phone is expected
01:05to go from 6.7 to 6.9 inches,
01:08but Apple isn't just relying on larger physical dimensions
01:11to make the viewing experience more immersive.
01:13For its 16 Pro models,
01:15Apple is said to be using border reduction structure
01:18or BRS technology,
01:20which allows for a more compact and efficient layout
01:24of the circuitry under the display,
01:26resulting in even slimmer 1.15 millimeter bezels.
01:30I do personally think that slimmer bezels
01:32makes the phone look really nice and it's sleek,
01:35but I also feel like a little bit of bezel
01:37between the screen and the actual frame of the phone
01:40helps with like having a place to put your fingers
01:43so that you don't accidentally press the screen
01:45and open up an app that you didn't wanna open up.
01:48And I feel like the more we reduce these bezels
01:50to basically being non-existent,
01:51well, we're gonna have a lot more
01:53of those accidental presses.
01:54But of course, I would love to hear from you
01:56in the comments down below about the bezels
01:58and the bigger size.
01:59What do you think so far?
02:00The iPhone 16 Pro Max is also getting
02:02another 48 megapixel camera this year.
02:05This time it's going to be the ultra wide getting that bump,
02:08but the main 48 megapixel main sensor
02:10is going to be 12% bigger
02:12and feature a stack design for better performance,
02:15a 14 bit analog to digital converter
02:17for higher quality image data conversion
02:19and a digital gain control
02:21for better dynamic range and noise control.
02:25Now, the one area of the iPhone
02:26that I'm very happy about getting bigger
02:28is the battery life.
02:30Apple will use battery cells with increased energy density
02:34that should offer longer battery life
02:36even if it's technically the same size battery
02:38as the previous generation.
02:40Earlier rumors have suggested that both iPhone 16 Pro models
02:44will use stacked battery technology,
02:46which can result in higher capacity and a longer lifespan.
02:50Now, according to another rumor,
02:52this year's iPhone 16 Pro Max will also boast
02:55an even bigger 30 plus hour battery life
02:58compared to the current 29 hours for the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
03:02And being an iPhone 15 Pro Max user since day one,
03:04I can tell you for sure,
03:05I'm definitely not getting anywhere near 29 hours.
03:09It's still better than any other iPhone
03:11that I could get right now just because it's the biggest,
03:13but it's still not as good as some other phones out there
03:17that have larger batteries in that same form factor.
03:20Last but not least, we do expect bigger storage capacities
03:23for the iPhone 16 Pro,
03:25potentially reaching all the way up
03:27to two terabytes in storage.
03:28And this would put the iPhone now in line
03:31with the latest iPad Pro in terms of storage configurations.
03:34Now, I used to joke about who would need that much storage,
03:37but considering that I'm actually filling up
03:39my 512 pretty easily,
03:41and if I go to shoot in ProRes log,
03:43which I like to do at times,
03:45it actually won't even let me do it.
03:46I do have some storage available,
03:48which you would think would be enough for a clip or two,
03:51but it's like, nope, you can't do it.
03:52You're gonna need to reduce some space
03:53or switch to another mode.
03:55It's just not happening.
03:56And so, yeah,
03:58I think I might have to at least get one terabyte.
04:00And if you're somebody like me who uses ProRes log
04:03or just likes to shoot a lot of high quality footage
04:05on their iPhones,
04:07two terabytes might be an even better option for you,
04:09but you probably still even need to get an external SSD,
04:12especially if you're gonna be using log.
04:14But of course, we'd love to hear from you
04:16in the comments down below,
04:17what size is good enough for you?
04:19And I just wanna hear down in those comments,
04:21just in general,
04:22about all of the iPhone 16 Pro or Pro Max changes
04:26that are rumored to be happening later this year.
04:29This is Dan with Mac Rumors.
04:30Thanks so much for watching
04:31and I look forward to seeing you all in the next video.
