00:10In her latest statement, the prime minister again underscored the need for Barbadians

00:13to remain vigilant given the changing nature of the system.

00:16She pledged to further update the country when the Hurricane Hunter aircraft examines

00:21the system on Sunday.

00:22In the meantime, Modli has urged Barbadians to secure loose objects that could become

00:26missiles, assist early citizens and other vulnerable people in the community, stock

00:31up on water, food and other medical supplies, and assist visitors on the island who may

00:35need help.

00:41As promised last night, I am back here to be able to speak with you again as we prepare

00:46as a people for the passage of Hurricane Beryl.

00:50It has now become a hurricane and as indicated, we have to remain vigilant over the course

00:57of the time between now and when it passes early in the hours of Monday morning.

01:02The evidence given to us by the Meteorological Office suggests at 5 p.m. that the system

01:09is 720 miles east-southeast of Barbados and moving quickly at 22 miles per hour.

01:15The winds are Category 1 hurricane winds, 75 miles per hour, and therefore as I said

01:21to you last night, we remain absolutely vigilant and need to take every precaution that is

01:27possible for ourselves, for our family and for our neighbours.
