00:00We are in the kitchen.
00:02The kitchen.
00:03Cue music.
00:04So this is the kitchen.
00:06Kitchen time.
00:07We're in the kitchen!
00:08We really used the shit out of this kitchen.
00:10This is our gorgeous kitchen
00:12with our beautiful oak cabinets.
00:15My idea.
00:16Oak, yes.
00:17My item, I wanted maple.
00:31I love these lighting fixtures right here
00:33because they remind me of those underwater scuba gear
00:37from the 19, I don't know, 30s and 40s,
00:40but they're just beautiful.
00:42I love, love, love the finish on these cabinets
00:46and the black and white.
00:49You'll see a lot of that in the house too.
00:50The floors are painted and stained in black and white
00:54and it just makes me happy.
00:56And if you can't be happy in your own home,
00:58how the hell are you gonna be happy anywhere else?
01:01Ha, ha, ha.
01:02Cue music.
01:06I plan to do my Italian Sunday dinner here.
01:10Meatballs, tomato sauce.
01:13I don't cook anything, you?
01:14He does not cook anything.
01:16Eggs, I cook eggs.
01:16Maybe eggs.
01:17Eggs, yes.
01:19He plays dumb a lot too, so that's why, right?
01:22Some of it isn't playing.
01:25When the house fills up with our four kids
01:28and maybe a couple of friends,
01:29it's a little chaotic, but a lot would be on the island.
01:32Well, that's why we wanted a big island,
01:34because we have a lot of stools
01:35and everybody can sit around here.
01:37And hopefully, you know, grandkids soon.
01:40Yeah, so we built this for future grandchildren.
01:43So hopefully they'll see this at some point
01:45and know this is all for them.
01:46They're not here yet.
01:47They're not even twinkles in anyone's eyes.
01:49Yes, but two of our kids are engaged to get married
01:52and I told them I'm putting a prize,
01:55a bounty out for the first grandkid.
01:58I'm gonna, college tuition,
02:01although we're gonna do that anyway.
02:02Yeah, we're gonna do that anyway.
02:03So maybe, I don't know.
02:04They're not gonna go to college.
02:05Neither did their parents.
02:06Oh, oh gosh.
02:08Who are we kidding?
02:09["Between the Lines"]
02:14I love mixing materials.
02:16The floors being terracotta and being reclaimed
02:18and then having the butcher block counters on one side
02:21and then having this slab.
02:23And I wanted to be able to have something sturdy
02:26and yet have something that is aesthetically beautiful.
02:29So we went with a dolomite.
02:31It's very textured.
02:32It's not smooth.
02:34It's not super polished.
02:37It's got a honed finish on top.
02:39So that allows for it to feel like yummy
02:42and kind of, oh, I don't know.
02:43Sometimes I like to just lay on it.
02:46It's really nice to lay on.
02:49Oh, it feels so good.
02:52All the hardware from the faucet to the knobs even,
02:56which are a little bit more modern,
02:57they're unlacquered, so with time,
03:00they will age and get more beautiful.
03:02I love this fridge.
03:03It was such a great find for me
03:06because it's very high-tech.
03:08If you can notice right here,
03:09there's a little button on the floor
03:11that says door open.
03:14Hold on.
03:16Hold on.
03:17There we go.
03:18So when you have all the groceries, you just,
03:19damn it.
03:23And it'll knock you out of the way.
03:26It works every other time.
03:28Boom.
03:33This is kind of like my dream kitchen.
03:35We have our ovens.
03:37We have our stoves here.
03:38We got a French top.
03:39We got some burners, a plancha, a fryer.
03:42We got really beautiful pots and pans from Made In.
03:46We had a giant butcher block pass created.
03:49We don't have a lot of space on the ground,
03:51but we have a lot of height.
03:52So creating a pass with shelving,
03:54we'll have plates on the outside.
03:57We'll have some ingredients and small wares up top,
04:00fridges lining the entire pass.
04:02This is going to be for fish butchery
04:04in the back corner there.
04:06And then we have our hearth,
04:08which we bricked all the way to the ceiling
04:10because I thought it looked great.
04:12This is going to be a steak and seafood restaurant
04:15that serves a lot of vegetables.
04:17I want the vegetables to shine just as much as a lobster,
04:20just as much as prime rib.
04:25We are in the heartbeat of our home.
04:28Obviously, we spend so much time in here.
04:30You can watch TV from here.
04:32It's a fully functional working kitchen.
04:34I think like when we go to other people's homes,
04:37we're like, oh my God,
04:38you can tell that when they don't use it.
04:39Honestly, we have all four ovens going quite often.
04:42Yeah, so we actually have two down here,
04:44two over there,
04:46and then we have a microwave over there
04:48and an espresso machine.
04:49We are literally using all of these things
04:52on our home.
04:53Literally using all of these things all the time.
04:55We're doing big meals, having friends over.
04:58We have Thanksgiving here, Christmas here.
05:00We do everything.
05:01We always wanted to have a home
05:04where it would be like an open door
05:06for our friends and family.
05:07What we love about it too is it's not really precious.
05:10This can take such a beating.
05:11I mean, we normally have a cutting board on here
05:15that everyone sees my kids on top of.
05:18All these burners going.
05:19I will say it is a very sensitive fire alarm.
05:23Oh yeah, our smoke alarm is sensitive.
05:25For anything.
05:26So we had to make sure this hood,
05:27it was good because it's trying to keep us safe.
05:30I understand, but I wish it would try a little less.
05:33It's going too hard.
05:34Try a little less.
05:35Have some faith in us that we would wake up.
05:44So here's the kitchen.
05:45I don't do too much cooking.
05:47Shout out to my chef, Ryan.
05:49Prepares unbelievable meals for us all the time.
05:52You know, I talk about having the team over a lot.
05:54You know, it's kind of my mindset around this house
05:56is, you know, make a place that's inviting
05:58and have areas where you can, you know,
05:59talk and chill with each other.
06:00And this is one of the areas where,
06:02you know, that tends to happen.
06:03You know, it's very spacious.
06:04Two islands in here.
06:06The marble, marble top.
06:08Very cohesive.
06:08I love how they hit off of each other.
06:11And some fresh picked limes from the backyard.
06:19And then we move into the kitchen.
06:21When I bought the house,
06:22this kitchen was very, very different.
06:24It was all white.
06:26There were red knobs on all the cabinetry.
06:30And during the pandemic, I was home so much.
06:33I was like, this would be the time
06:35to do a remodel for the kitchen.
06:37And so I took it upon myself to have a project
06:42and put it all together.
06:44I wanted the floors to feel kind of Italian.
06:47So we did the taverting.
06:48I opened the shelving up
06:50and this tile is actually leftover tile
06:53from the remodel of my bathroom.
06:55And it was sitting in the basement.
06:57And I was like, that would work perfectly.
07:00So put that here, made it just really earthy.
07:05There's a lot of plants.
07:07There's a lot of fruit.
07:08I have an abundance of citrus and avocados.
07:13I don't really cook that often.
07:15Once in a blue moon, it happens.
07:20We love this giant island
07:22with this Calcutta porcelain on it.
07:24It's beautiful.
07:25This is where we cook Thanksgiving.
07:27Huge pot of greens and mac and cheese.
07:30Her greens are off the chain.
07:36They're good?
07:36Yep.
07:37Especially during Thanksgiving, our favorite holiday.
07:40This is magic.
07:41Conversations, dancing.
07:43And you know what?
07:44Most of the time, that's what happens in here.
07:46People come to the kitchen
07:48and you're trying to get them to go other places.
07:50Everybody's in the kitchen around the island.
07:52We had a dance party here one year.
07:53We actually had a dance party during Thanksgiving.
07:56People start dancing
07:58and I was screaming at the top of my lungs.
08:01I was-
08:02Julissa was a DJ.
08:02I was a DJ.
08:03We're the fun and this kitchen is fun
08:06when good food is cooking in here.
08:07Yeah.
08:13When we got the house,
08:14this was like one of the rooms
08:16that I fell in love with immediately.
08:17And there were already so many incredible qualities
08:20about it.
08:21The floors, this epic stove.
08:24I just found it to be so, so, so, so, so beautiful.
08:27We added this island here and these bistro chairs.
08:31They're from Serena and Lily.
08:33They're sort of, you know,
08:34they bring kind of like a Parisian vibe to the entire room.
08:37As you can see over here,
08:39there is a ton of depression wear everywhere in this house.
08:43This all belonged to my grandmother, my dad's mom,
08:46and she collected this depression wear.
08:48And I actually had it for years and years and years
08:51hidden behind doors and cabinets and whatnot.
08:55And the moment that Claire Thomas saw this,
08:57she was like,
08:58oh my gosh, this is the inspiration for the entire house.
09:00So that's really beautiful.
09:01I also, I should say that I love this sink.
09:05You shouldn't look inside of it, but it is so deep.
09:07I will demonstrate it with my hand.
09:10So that's, I'm now at the bottom of the sink.
09:12So it's a very deep sink, which is fantastic
09:16because you can put a lot of dishes in there
09:18and you don't have to deal with it
09:20until it's peeking out of the top.
09:22Don't tell my kids I said that
09:24because I would never let them get away with that,
09:25but definitely a selling point.
09:27["Summer Breeze"]
09:37So this kitchen is open, very airy, very light.
09:43Honestly, I don't know what this is,
09:47but my husband wanted it.
09:48Never used it, but looks stunning in a kitchen.
09:53Makes it seem like it's a gourmet kitchen.
09:55Is it a gourmet kitchen?
09:58One day, but it isn't right now
09:59because I'll tell you who hasn't cooked here yet.
10:02My husband.
