00:00So, pretty good winter, snow's melting, what do you do with the water?
00:07So the roof is fairly flat, and so the snow actually collects up there.
00:12And then as it melts, it runs down the roof and is just caught in a conventional gutter.
00:17Pretty simple.
00:19And then it runs down to a pipe at the end and it flows into two cisterns.
00:25Water collected in the cisterns is used throughout the house, with one notable exception.
00:30No water needed for the throne.
00:33So this is the throne room.
00:36Yeah, this is, when we do a tour of the house, this is the people's favorite spot.
00:42Composting toilet.
00:43Yeah.
00:44Right?
00:45Tell me the process.
00:46What, how does it work?
00:47Yeah, so basically, this composting toilet separates the solids from the liquids.
00:52When it fills up, we take it out to our compost pile.
00:56We fill it up over the period of about a year.
00:59And after a year, we have another side of the compost bin that we transfer over and
01:03we start on that side while this one rests for a year or so, and then we can use it on
01:08the garden.
01:09Okay.
01:10Cool.
01:11I'm not going to go in there right now.
