Civilians in two cities have found themselves victims of attacks as Russia and Ukraine exchange
00:11
fire.
00:14
Russian forces have launched a bomb attack on the Kharkiv region, hitting civilian infrastructure.
00:20
As of 5pm, at least one person is known to be killed and 11 people injured.
00:27
Moscow has recently intensified attacks against Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city, with
00:32
the use of missiles, glide bombs and drones, destroying energy infrastructure and killing
00:38
civilians.
00:40
The attack marks the second time this weekend Russia has attacked Kharkiv with glide bombs.
00:46
Elsewhere, five people, including two children, were killed by falling debris when five Ukrainian
00:53
missiles were shot down in Sevastopol, a port city in Russian-annexed Crimea.
00:59
Russian state news agency RIA Novosti said 124 people were wounded, citing the health
01:06
ministry.
01:08
Monday was declared a day of mourning in the city, with public events cancelled.
01:19
Protesters demanding that the government resigns were met with a heavy police presence
01:23
in Tel Aviv.
01:24
A few scuffles broke out and some of the protesters were pushed back, whilst others were carried
01:29
away.
01:30
There's anger across Israel at the government's handling of the war in Gaza and the hostage
01:35
crisis.
01:36
The government estimates 116 hostages are still in Gaza, 40 of them presumed to have
01:41
died and around 80 who are believed to still be alive.
01:45
Meanwhile, Israel has killed over 37,000 people in Gaza, most of them women and children.
01:54
As Pride Month continues across Europe, 10,000 people have taken part in a colourful parade
02:00
in Warsaw.
02:03
Traditionally a protest event, participants voiced their demands, which included the extension
02:08
of anti-hate speech law to fully protect the LGBTQ plus community, marriage and civil union
02:14
as a right of every citizen and safeguarding the rights of children raised in same-sex
02:19
relationships.
02:21
Poland also joined a diplomatic declaration, alongside 35 embassies and several cultural
02:27
institutes in Budapest, against politically motivated targeting of members of the LGBTQ
02:33
plus community.
02:35
It comes as Budapest held its Pride Parade in the city centre for the 29th time.
02:44
An hour's long power outage hit the Balkans on Friday, plunging the region into darkness.
02:51
It comes off the back of an early June heatwave that saw temperatures climb to a sizzling
02:56
40 degrees.
02:57
Croatian officials blamed faulty energy infrastructure between Greece and Albania for the blackouts.
03:03
I would not like to be exposed to information, but it is preliminary that there was a long
03:09
blackout between Greece and Albania and that the flows changed, but it is still a sphere
03:16
of harassment and unverified information.
03:19
Bosnia's state power company said the outage was caused by problems in a regional distribution
03:24
line, while Albania's state power company said extreme heat caused the problem.
03:29
Montenegrin officials said the increased daily load, compounded by high temperatures, led
03:34
to the outages.
03:35
It is simply not possible and it is not necessary to turn on the power just because it was a
03:42
big attack on the distribution network.
03:44
So I have to be careful, I ask the citizens to be patient.
03:48
These are emergency situations that are common, that happen not so often, of course, in the
03:53
power system, but something that cannot be excluded.
03:57
The energy infrastructure collapse led to businesses shuttering, traffic gridlock and
04:02
imposed emergency safety measures.
04:05
Montenegro, Croatia, Bosnia and Albania have shared interconnected power grids since 1990.
04:14
The search for missing British teenager Jay Slater on the Canary Island of Tenerife enters
04:21
its seventh day as his father, Warren Slater, describes the situation as a nightmare.
04:27
The apprentice bricklayer went missing on Monday morning after attempting to walk 10
04:31
kilometers home from a music festival.
04:33
The 19-year-old informed one of his friends over the phone that he had no water, was lost
04:38
and his mobile was on 1 percent.
04:40
The walk has been described by experienced hikers as very difficult and could take up
04:45
to 11 hours.
