00:00Let's transition now to Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final.
00:08It does not get more exciting than that.
00:10It'll be tonight in Sunrise, Florida.
00:12The Panthers had a 3-0 lead in this series.
00:16It is long gone.
00:173-3 as the Oilers will try to become the fifth team in NHL history, second team in the Stanley
00:24Cup Final, and as ever since 1942, to come back from a 3-0 series deficit.
00:31Let's start with Paul Maurice, Scotty.
00:33We had some fun with him on the end of last week talking about 3-2 is better than 3-0,
00:39blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
00:42Well, here's Paul.
00:43Now he understands all the narratives, Game 7, greatest thing ever, but that can't be
00:48the focus.
00:49They just have to win a hockey game.
00:50If you've handled the why of where you're at, and that would be hockey, right, specific
00:58hockey details.
00:59No one's listening to him anymore, Mike.
01:00Then you don't carry it forward.
01:03I understand every one of your questions in terms of why you would ask them, because there
01:07is a far bigger contextual story that means nothing to me now, but it means everything
01:12to you, right?
01:13That's the stories you have to write.
01:16That's actually what makes this whole thing awesome is the context of it.
01:21So nobody ever, ever has played on a backdoor rink in Canada and scored the Game 3 overtime
01:27winner in the qualifying round, ever.
01:30It's one game always that excites you, and that is the context of this game and the one
01:36that we will live in that context.
01:40They will never live it down if they lose tonight, I'll tell you that much.
01:43And let me tell you something else.
01:45We live in a world of instantaneous video.
01:51I mean, we're on sports grid here, folks, and radio, I won't deny, is huge.
01:56We're on tons of radio stations all day.
01:59People want to see this stuff.
02:02You know, the writers, the columns you want to write, does anyone, like, I know like two
02:07people that read now in my life.
02:10Like I know no one that reads.
02:11I tell you, I told you I'm the only guy that gets newspapers anymore.
02:15I read two newspapers every day of my life.
02:18And he's like, I know you have to write your story.
02:20No one reads any stories ever, anywhere, ever, anywhere, ever.
02:24Okay.
02:25People watch their phones.
02:27They watch their sports grid app.
02:29They watch their phones for video.
02:31They watch their phones for sex.
02:33And they bet on their phones.
02:36And then they listen to the radio on their phone.
02:40And they listen to their podcasts on their phone.
02:43And then when they get home, they watch TV.
02:45No one is sitting around little house on the prairie with a candle reading the Bible anymore.
02:51Okay.
02:52No one reads anything ever.
02:54So all you writers have to write.
02:56That's what caught me about that.
02:57Because I told you, no one's listening to Paul anymore after the bend over job they
03:00just took for three games.
03:02Paul's press conferences don't matter anymore.
03:04I love Paul.
03:05I'm friends with Paul.
03:06But Paul needs to shut up and he needs to win tonight or they're never going to live
03:08it down.
03:09And neither will he.
03:10He's going to fire his ass for losing four straight video hours.
03:14Yeah.
03:15All these great press conferences and stories aren't going to have the same feel when all
03:19you're going to be remembered as is blowing a 3-0 lead in the Stanley Cup final.
03:23That's all you're going to be remembered as if that goes and happens.
03:27Not all the great stories.
03:29Never will.
03:30You will never.
03:31Will the.
03:32Well, like we said it the other day.
03:33Will the Falcons and Matt Ryan and all these guys ever live down 28 to 3?
03:36No.
03:37No.
03:38No.
03:39No.
03:40No.
03:41Paul Maurice and Matthew Kachuk and Sergei Bobrovsky and all these guys will never live
03:42down 3-0 if it happens to them.
03:45Yankees never live down 3-0 against the Red Sox.
03:48Never.
03:49I'll tell you what.
03:51You know, this guy Maurice talking about, you know, all this other media stuff.
03:57Listen, you said it.
03:58They will never live this down.
04:00I mean, I think all the pressure in the world is on them.
04:04I don't know how you can turn it around when you're playing as badly as they are in just
04:13one night.
04:14Like, you're telling me that is that really going to happen, that a team that can get
04:17a task beat three nights in a row like the way they did?
04:21Because I got to tell you, when they won, what, they went 3-0 and what was the other
04:25one?
04:26Was the other one a one goal game?
04:27I don't even remember.
04:28So it was 3-0, but they didn't play the way Edmonton played in those three last three
04:33games.
04:35Edmonton.
04:36Edmonton's three wins.
04:37Compare them in concert with Florida's three wins and who's better?
04:41You know who's better.
04:42Right.
04:43No.
04:44I know.
04:45Edmonton is, look, the games have been different, the games that Edmonton has won.
04:52They just have.
04:53There's been more of a dominating feel to all of them.
04:56And look, you never remember the team, you know, the team that was down 3-0 and loses
05:01in game seven.
05:02It's been a couple.
05:04They're not remembered.
05:05You know, the team ends up winning.
05:06And sometimes you don't even remember that they almost blew a 3-0 lead.
05:10But you will never live down losing four in a row after being up 3-0.
05:15Never.
05:16That is one that will never go away.
05:17The reverse.
05:18It'll be talked about forever.
05:20All right, here we go.
05:22Let's hear from Kachuk and then we'll give you Connor McDavid one last time here before
05:26game seven.
05:27Kachuk, it all comes down to this tonight.
05:30It's been a very even series, even though, you know, we won three, they won three.
05:36For us, both teams to have an opportunity, you know, most teams when you lose three in
05:42a playoff series, you don't have a chance at another game.
05:45And somehow both of us have an opportunity still.
05:47So very exciting.
05:50Kind of leave it all out there.
05:51Desperation on both sides.
05:54You know, and it's been a very even series, I feel like.
05:57So it all comes down to this.
06:01I hope, you know, it's a better ending for them than I think it's going to be.
06:06But I'll tell you what, it reminds me of like the Croats leaving that stadium right now.
06:11They're going, I mean, Depression City.
06:14Your boy Modric looks like he's ready to jump in the river because he's finished playing
06:18in the Euros at 38.
06:20And he'll be lucky if they let him play at 40 in the World Cup, he'll be 40 years old
06:25in two years, playing in the World Cup again, which also seems unlikely to me.
06:30But losing is so awful.
06:33Like when you go as a fan, and like I went to 08 to the Stanley Cup Finals and watched
06:40the Penguins lose to the Red Wings.
06:42And I mean, I gotta tell you, it is depressing.
06:48Watching the Islanders beat the Penguins my whole life in the playoffs.
06:51Watching them beat them with Volek's goal after they won back-to-back Stanley Cups.
06:55Depressing.
06:56You wonder why Pittsburgh's gray and gloomy and everybody, no one goes to work after they
07:01lose when the Steelers and Penguins lose in that town.
07:04Buffalo, same thing, they lose in the Super Bowl.
07:07You wonder why people have shrinks and people have depression and eat Zoloft.
07:12Honestly, seriously, like these people tonight are going to leave that arena in full-on depression.
07:20They got, it's really, it's not even July yet.
07:23It's 100 degrees down there every day with 100% humidity.
07:26And once the hockey ends, you don't even want to watch the Marlins.
07:30I mean, you don't even care the Dolphins open training camp if they lose tonight.
07:35They're never living it down.
07:37And they are going to leave that arena, half of them probably going to walk home.
07:41They don't even want to get in the car.
07:42They just want to, leave me alone, I'm going to walk.
07:46Here is, we of course have been playing plenty of Conor McDavid stuff throughout this entire
07:51playoff run.
07:53Might as well do one more before a game seven.
07:56And I got to give him credit.
07:57It's another game.
07:58I thought we would get the old, I thought we would get, it's just another game.
08:01He actually gave a little bit more than that.
08:03Here he is.
08:04Prepare for these games mentally.
08:05Do you spend time envisioning what the game's going to be like?
08:08Do you try not to think about it?
08:09Like, how do you get ready mentally for these big games?
08:11Well, you got to prepare just like you always do.
08:15You know, obviously it's not your ordinary game.
08:17Everybody understands that.
08:18But you got to make it as ordinary as possible in your head.
08:25You know, I think part of that is just sticking to your routine, you know.
08:29Our room has done a great job of, you know, being at our best in these big moments.
08:36Oh my God, I'm freezed is more exciting.
08:39Honestly, talking about walking through the desert with a fish and feeding 700 people.
08:44That's the biggest, that's the biggest thing for me tonight.
08:47If they win.
08:48Are we going to see a different side of this guy?
08:53I want to see that.
08:54That's, that's the boat might be the most intriguing thing tonight.
08:56Does McDavid have any personality and will he show it when the monkey gets off his back
09:01and he wins a cup?
09:02He's got the, he's got the full, what was your boy, Andrew Luck?
09:07You know, Civil War neckbeard going to Civil War.
09:14As of this very moment, the Oilers are now minus one 15 favorites tonight on the road
09:21in sunrise minus one Oh five for the Panthers and a five and a half, just like every other
09:27game in this series.
09:28Yeah.
09:29I told you I got it at minus a buck too, and I'll take the under and I'll take the Oilers
09:34and I, you know, for Goldie and a molar, I hope you get your rings, but I'm not feeling
09:41it.
09:43I'm not feeling like I would be, if I were the Florida Panthers, I would be scared to
09:47death of what is about to happen to them because it has been so apparent to me.
09:54Who's better.
09:55I watched six games.
09:57Who's flat out.
09:58Who's better.
09:59Evans is better than them.
10:02They're faster.
10:03They're bigger.
10:04They're, they're more skilled.
10:06Their power plays better.
10:07Their penalty kills better.
10:08Their goalie's better.
10:10Their coach has been better with his line movements.
10:13I hate to say it, but it's all true.
10:16Every check the boxes.
10:17They're better and everything.
10:18If Florida wins this game tonight, I will keel over.
10:21They haven't looked good since game three.
10:24Since 2005.
10:25Now this is a large sample size, 20 years worth of games.
10:30The under is 63% 44, 26 and nine in the Stanley cup final Scotty game seven, it is four and
10:38oh to the under.
10:41So there you go.
10:42Uh, five and a half, uh, for this one tonight, me and you both like the under.
10:46We think this game.
10:47So you're telling me it's moved to five at bet MGM.
10:50I just saw that.
10:52That was at this morning at this very second, I have bet MGM open right now in my hand.
10:59It is under five and a half at minus one 50.
11:03So you're paying a little bit more, uh, for that under, but it is still five and a half.
11:09Well that is a, uh, just a really miserable, juicy, uh, price to pay pretty under.
11:16So here's what we'll do.
11:17Uh, screw that.
11:18I'm not paying a buck 50 to, uh, to handle that stress.
11:23Like I'm going to be sitting there the whole game hoping for five goals at minus a buck
11:26and a half.
11:27My ass.
11:28How's that sound?
11:29I already bet the Oilers at minus a buck too.
11:32Thank you ma'am.
11:33I've been moving against my swerve all day.
11:37It's up to minus one 15.
11:38So I had a minus budget.
11:39So I did this bet on Saturday morning.
11:42So screw everybody.
11:43How does that sound?
11:45I already got it in.
11:46I don't need your, uh, juicy burger.
11:48Okay.
11:49I get those at Wendy's.
11:50Thanks so much.
11:52The most bet player props for tonight, obviously everything is Connor McDavid score.
11:58Anytime goal over a point and a half, over three and a half shots, uh, Bobrovsky over
12:0324 and a half saves.
12:05I even have, look at this, uh, McDavid specials, uh, for you tonight too.
12:11How about him to get six shots at four to one?
12:13How about three assists at six to one?
12:15How about two power play points at plus four 50?
12:18I mean, I got it all for you with McDavid tonight, uh, as he looks to win his first
12:22family.
12:23So that's just overwhelming for me to look at right now in Braille.
12:28So tell me what you like of all those multitude of game seven specials that you just gave
12:34me.
12:35Which ones do you like?
12:36Cause look in game six, he had no points.
12:39He had no points.
12:40Yes.
12:41Yes.
12:42If I was going to dart, if I was going to dart throw any of those games, seven specials,
12:45it would be the two power play points at plus four 50.
12:48I think that's the one dart throw I would take tonight.
12:50Two points on the power play.
12:51Cause look, there's a lot of big here.
12:53Seven shots, eight shots.
12:54I mean, like you said, he didn't really get near that the other night, three points at
12:57plus two 80.
12:58Eh, give me the two power play points, a little juicier number cause they've been good on
13:03the power play.
13:04That's what I would do.
13:05Yeah.
13:06Listen, I'm going to say this like crazily.
13:09I think, you know, all the extra help on that team are the ones scoring all the goals.
13:15The help, the help is scoring all the goals.
13:18It hasn't been the superstar.
13:20Now the superstars got all the points and he's not going to, he's not going to catch
13:25Gretzky.
13:26Okay.
13:27That's not happening either.
13:28Right?
13:29No.
13:30So I I'm on the help.
13:31You know, I really am.
13:33Everyone but him is going to be the reason they win this game tonight.
13:37He's going to, they're going to be so worried about him that everybody else is going to
13:40do the damage.
