France: far right National Rally collects 35% of vote intentions ahead of French elections

00:00Days ahead of the first round of voting in France's parliamentary elections, polls indicate

00:05that the far-right National Rally is still the front-runner in the race.

00:09More than a week after the Republicans' party chief, Eric Ciotti, called for an electoral

00:14pact with Le Pen's party, voting intentions for the National Rally stand at 35 percent.

00:19This, according to a poll by IFOP published on Friday evening.

00:24The figure is up by one percent from the previous day.

00:27It would give the National Rally and its allies between 200 and 240 seats at the National

00:32Assembly, a figure below the 289 threshold required for an absolute majority, but one

00:38that is well above their 88 seats in the outgoing parliament.

00:42Currently in second place is the new popular front, a broad left-wing alliance, who have

00:4629 percent of voting intentions, according to the latest poll, the same percentage as

00:51on Thursday.

00:5388 percent of those who polled in favour of the alliance said they were sure about

00:57their choice, the same amount as those supporting the National Rally, and higher than the presidential

01:02party's 74 percent.

01:05With 21.5 percent of voting intentions, Macron's centrist alliance, Together, is in third place.

01:12The first round of voting is scheduled for the 30th of June.
