Was England's 1-1 draw with Denmark as bad as it looked? Our expert panel dissects all of the biggest talking points from Euro 2024.

00:00Yeah, it was interesting. You mentioned the Karl Walker interview. He also, he was asked whether
00:04England basically doing the same thing they did against Serbia, which is getting the goals or
00:08playing well to start with, and then just dropping deeper and deeper and allowing Denmark to apply
00:12more and more pressure. He was basically asked if that was something Gareth Southgate was
00:15effectively telling them to do, whether that was a strategy and a plan. And he said it wasn't,
00:19which I thought was interesting, as if it was sort of, you know, the player's own agency. I mean,
00:24do you think that there's something that, do you think this is a Gareth Southgate problem? Or do
00:27you think this is a problem with the players in the squad right now? I don't know, because I'm,
00:34you know, there's, there should be no reason why on paper that is, you know, England have probably
00:41got the best squad out of most of the other countries, like competing. In my opinion,
00:49I don't think there's any reason that they shouldn't be, you know, three goals up. And
00:54they certainly weren't without, you know, they had certain opportunities, but as soon as they
00:59get into the box, there just seems to be some complete disconnect. You know, I think Gareth
01:04Southgate, he's done wonders for the team previously, but I think, you know, maybe,
01:13maybe it's time that he is just coming to the end of whatever he's been able to achieve.
01:18There does seem to be this sort of waiting around, waiting for something to happen,
01:21rather than going out on the attack straight away. And yet, as you mentioned, you know,
01:25as soon as they get that goal, they seem to just think, oh, well, you know, we've got the three
01:30points now, let's just wait around and see what else happens, rather than having that fight to go,
01:36go get more. So then whenever you do concede, there's suddenly a panic, and they don't really
01:41know how to respond. So yeah, as far as I'm aware, like, I, you know, when you've got Jude
01:49Bellingham, who I think is probably doing, I think he's trying to overcompensate for the rest
01:54of the team, maybe at the moment. But you've got so many other key players that have been scoring
02:02ridiculous number of goals across Europe for their clubs. But it's just very unfortunate that
02:10they haven't been able to bring that into the national squad at all.
