EU leaders break off talks on top job nominees without result

00:00Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Maloney from the far-right Brothers of Italy party is not

00:04happy about that.

00:05You could see that on her face yesterday.

00:07There was supposed to be a big conversation digesting the results of the European election,

00:12but apparently all people heard was the EPP crowing about how they came first.

00:16Now, they've come first in every European Parliament election for the past 25 years,

00:21nothing new there.

00:22But apparently no one really wanted to acknowledge the growth in far-right seats there in the

00:28Parliament and there within the European Council, Giorgia Maloney was not happy about

00:33that.

00:34Technically, the ECR, her group in the European Parliament had more votes than Emmanuel Macron's

00:40Renew group of liberals, just a little bit more, but yet Renew is being offered this

00:46high representative position, ECR is getting nothing.

00:49Now, there's only two prime ministers from the ECR right now, Maloney and the Czech Prime

00:55Minister Peter Fiala, but we're set to get another one with the Belgian Prime Minister

00:59very shortly, and there's talk that Viktor Orban is also going to join that group.

01:04I don't see ECR getting any of these top jobs in the long run, but it's created, it seems

01:09a lot of ill will with Maloney.
