00:38But, Scotty, they're going to keep harping on it, so Kyrie gave him a little bit of what

00:41they wanted yesterday.

00:42Here he is explaining his struggles with the Celtics' cult, as he says.

00:47Man, by just thinking about the goal that we have in front of us as best we can and

00:52trying not to get tired of everyone talking about the history that has not been made.

00:57You know, I've said it over the past 48 hours, just putting our best foot forward and just

01:03simplifying it.

01:16But I think what I'm sharing with my teammates now is just enjoy the moment and we've got

01:20a chance to accomplish one of our goals, which is to make it back to Boston.

01:23So we have another goal in front of us, and that's to make it back to Dallas.

01:41I think that's what I struggled with initially, was figuring out how I'm going to be a great

01:45player here while winning championships, while also leading a team, and selflessly

01:49joining the Celtics organization or the cult that they have here.

01:54You know, and that's what they expect you to do as a player.

01:57They expect you to seamlessly buy into the Celtics pride, buy into everything Celtics.

02:02And if you don't, then you'll be outed.

02:04And I'm one of the people that's on the outs.

02:06I'm perfectly fine with that.

02:09I mean, I did it to myself.

02:12They don't welcome me in with warm embrace.

02:14You know, I know a lot of people in the organization, and my friends still here, some of them.

02:18No, they don't.

02:19But yeah, it was just a doing to myself, and that's what I was talking about in terms of

02:22accepting the choices.

02:23But looking back on it, definitely would have showed my respect and had more of a counsel

02:27around me from some of the Boston Celtics that had came before me to explain what the

02:31pressure is like, so.

02:33Well that's because he's so cocky.

02:36His whole career, when he was younger, he was so cocky.

02:39He thought he was better than, remember, LeBron James, because he hit the shot and wanted

02:43to be on his own team, to lead his own team.

02:46So then he went there, and he didn't knob him.

02:49He wasn't going to be the guy, you know, going out to lunch with the leprechaun.

02:54And they didn't like that.

02:55You either are all in there, and you're one of us, or you won't last there.

03:01Listen, if this guy was playing for Red Auerbach, they would have never let him play a second

03:05year.

03:06I mean, honestly, like, you either are, you know, a part of that.

03:10He's right, it is a cult.

03:12It is bigger than, frankly, people can even understand.

03:17I mean, these are the two, I've said this before, the Lakers and Celtics are really,

03:22at the end of the day, and I know it sounds crazy, because there's been the Spurs, and

03:27there's been the Dubs, and there's been other teams, the Bulls, and the Heat, and everything.

03:33At the end of the day, the only thing that matters in the NBA are the Lakers and the

03:37Celtics.

03:39No one wants to admit it, but it's true.

03:45That's all that matters.

03:46There's nothing the NBA wants more.

03:48Can you imagine when the Celtics and Lakers aren't good?

03:57They have to have those two teams good, or their whole league collapses fiscally.
