00:00What do you like the most about playing Riley and with which emotion do you relate the most?
00:20That's a great question. I would say the thing I love the most about playing Riley is being myself.
00:25I really brought myself to this character because we are experiencing the same emotions.
00:30I got to be my silly, goofy, messy self. She taught me that we don't have to be perfect all the time.
00:36I think that was a really special moment for us.
00:40I would say anxiety is probably very relatable for me because I've been on my own journey with anxiety.
00:47I thought it was something that I should be ashamed of. I thought it was something bad.
00:51But this film has shown me that it's something we all struggle with. We're not alone.
00:55Anxiety is not bad. She's there to help us. She wants what's best for us.
01:11With which emotion do you relate the most right now?
01:15Right now, I think I relate the most to fear.
01:19This is my first movie premiere, so I have a lot of fear, but then top two, joy.
01:24How exciting is it to be here celebrating this amazing movie?
01:28I'm so excited, so honored to be here.
01:31I can't wait to see the movie and see how it plays out, but I'm super excited.
01:37With which emotion do you relate the most?
01:41Joy. There's so much joy in the building today.
01:46But I think it goes without saying that all the emotions are important.
01:49Emotions that we all experience, all those emotions at different points in our life.
01:54All the ones that Riley's going to go through, the new ones in the second movie are important.
01:59But a lot of joy for sure.
02:01What do you like the most about your character and what have you learned from him?
02:05I love that he's sweet. I love that he enjoys teaching and education.
02:10And I like that he's 2D and fun and looks different in the world of 3D.
02:15I just learned to be more patient and how to speak to my youngest son with a little bit more patience
02:23and not speaking down to him, just speaking directly to him, more like an adult.
02:28What is the most challenging part making the music for a movie like this?
02:35The most challenging part on making music in a film like this
02:40is making sure that it feels authentic to the story.
02:47And with this one, I felt very attached to it.
02:51I think everybody's going to have some story that they remember from when they were Riley's age.
02:57And that's such an intense time with so many emotions going on, big emotions.
03:01And I had a lot go on at that time as well.
03:06Riley moved and had to make all these new friends.
03:09And not overwhelming the picture, doing exactly what you feel and being soft and supportive of it
03:19for this character as she grows and develops was actually no challenge, but it was my honor.
03:28Because I'm Team Riley.
03:31I think everybody says, oh, I love this emotion or they have them as characters, but I'm all Team Riley.
03:37How challenging was to put together all these new emotions on the screen?
03:44Well, the screen is only so big and we have nine emotions and some are huge.
03:50Embarrassment is like eight joys.
03:53So I think it speaks to the talent of the animators to be able to find a way to showcase
03:59all of these great characters and these great emotions by doing more than just changing their color.
04:05There is so much time and energy put in to the smallest details of these guys.
04:12And they all deserve their spot in the spotlight tonight. It's going to be great.
