00:00So, there are two key checks on here, if we bring them up.
00:03The first one, and this is the one people don't check,
00:05you need to check it is under ten years old
00:08on the day you enter the country.
00:09People get caught out by that, that is a common condition.
00:12Some British passports are over ten years old
00:15and they're still valid, but you often can't travel on that.
00:18And you then need to check for many countries, not all,
00:21that you need at least six months left from the day that you enter.
00:24If you don't have that, then you need to check the country rules
00:28to see if it is valid.
00:30Now, just bring up a couple of points on that.
00:32Since Brexit, even EU countries now require three months' validity
00:36and under ten years old on your passport.
00:39And if you're thinking, it's all right, I'll renew,
00:42well, the passport office is saying allow up to ten weeks for renewals,
00:45but I'm hearing delays can be longer
00:47and that fast-track slots are limited.
00:49And let me be plain, an invalid passport,
00:53the travel insurance company will not allow you to claim
00:56if that's the reason that you can't go on holiday.
