Nauru is a tiny island country in Micronesia, in the Central Pacific. With an area of just 21 square kilometers, it's one of the smallest nations in the world. Despite its size, Nauru is notable for its unique geological features, particularly its elevated phosphate-rich plateau which has been extensively mined for its valuable phosphate deposits. Nauru doesn't have an official capital, but government offices are located in the district of Yaren. The island is known for its lack of fresh water sources and minimal natural vegetation due to phosphate mining. Economically, Nauru has struggled due to the depletion of phosphate resources, relying on imports and international aid. Its population is around 10,000 people, predominantly of Nauruan ethnicity, and the local culture reflects a blend of Micronesian, Western, and other Pacific influences.
