The Youth and Sports Ministry have taken the initiative to introduce 'Team MAS' campaign with the aim of giving encouragement to every national athlete competing on the world stage as well as a symbolic move 50 days before the Paris Olympic Games.
Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh said with the theme 'We are all Team MAS', she hoped the campaign will serve as a unifying force to all Malaysians.
00:00Today, we have launched the hashtag, WeAreAllTeamMars, to send our contingent to the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
00:22The largest contingent after last night is 33 people, 18 athletes for the Olympics and 15 athletes for the Paralympic Games.
00:32As I have stated, the athletes' preparations are all in order.
00:38And from now until the 50-day countdown, we hope our athletes will continue to have a strong spirit to face their opponents in Paris.
00:51For the Olympic Games, we have launched this theme, WeAreAllTeamMars, because we want this to be a common responsibility for all Malaysians, not just athletes.
01:02For Malaysians, they know the spirit they give to their athletes when they enter the arena.
01:09It is the same as when Malaysians enter the arena with their athletes.
01:13Therefore, this is a call to action for Malaysians to show up for TeamMars.
01:20It's not just about the Olympics or the Asian Games.
01:24Every time our athletes leave the country to represent Malaysia, they carry this theme, TeamMars.
01:29We will also meet, and I have written to many corporate partners, for them to join us.
01:36I believe that corporate investment to build the Games will bring a lot of value, not just money, but to build the next generation.
01:49I know that Sukan is a movement, or a union in Malaysia.
01:56So, this is a call for everybody to be together.
02:00And it's so generic enough that whether it's ping-pong or whether it's tower running, everybody can use this when they go and represent Malaysia.
