Khalil Yousuf announces his campaign to try and make history in Farnham and Bordon

Liberal Democrat prospective candidate Khalil Yousuf has announced his campaign to take on Conservative Gregory Stafford at the next general election.  The Liberal Democrat MP announced his campaign focusing on key areas such as the NHS, The environment and the raw sewage in the River Wey and the economy.  Polling figures have the new Farnham and Bordon constituency as a closely fought battle between Stafford and Yousuf.  Therefore the next 5 weeks both for the party and candidates are vital for swinging the vote.  Yousuf will be looking to create history and become the first non-conservative MP in the Farnham area. Yousuf highlighted the importance of labour voters switching to Liberal Democrats in order to oust the Tories in the area.

00:00My name is Khalil Yusuf and I'm standing as the Liberal Democrat,

00:04respective Member of Parliament for Barnum and Hollingwood.

00:07My job is to fight for a fairer deal for all of you,

00:10to try and make sure that your voice is heard in Parliament.

00:13We've had 14 years of a Conservative government

00:16under which things have become very unfair.

00:19Many people can't get a dental appointment from an NHS dentist

00:23at all in this constituency.

00:25Many people can't get a GP when they really need one.

00:28And if our elderly parents fall over there's no guarantee

00:31that an ambulance will turn up.

00:33That's not because of our hard-working doctors, nurses

00:36and public service workers.

00:39It's because of the way that this government has managed our NHS.

00:43Sewage dumping within the Riverway is at absolutely shocking levels.

00:47Billions and billions of litres of sewage dumped in our Riverway and streams.

00:51And nobody seems to be held to account.

00:54We will make sure that Thames Water becomes a public benefit company

00:57that we don't have dividends and bonuses for directors

01:01when the infrastructure is not being invested in.

01:04And we'll tackle this cost of living crisis which is causing people

01:07to be in a position where many can't pay for their food,

01:10they can't pay their rent and their mortgages

01:12and their utility bills are higher than they have ever been.

01:16We'll support our education system, our teachers and our children

01:20and we'll try and make sure that our streets are safe

01:22by making sure we have sufficient police officers.

01:26The Liberal Democrats are a real option in Farnham and Borden.

01:30It's a very, very tight race between Conservatives and Liberal Democrats.

01:34Labour can't win here.

01:36Unfortunately, because of our unfair voting system,

01:39if you vote Labour, it's a wasted vote

01:41and it just lets the Conservatives in by the back door.

01:44So Labour voters, please lend me your vote so we can remove the Tories

01:48and fight for a much fairer and better Farnham, Borden, Hazelmere

01:52and surrounding villages.
