00:00 The past year has been a landmark one for North Korea's space program.
00:03 Back in November, they put their first spy satellite into orbit,
00:06 with intelligence experts believing that Russia may have helped them.
00:10 Now, US and South Korean intelligence reports indicate Kim Jong-un's regime
00:14 may be gearing up for another launch. The report outlines the detection of
00:18 certain pre-launch signs in a northwestern region, an area known to be the location
00:22 of their space launch center. North Korea reported after their initial satellite launch
00:26 that it was orbiting and providing reconnaissance photos of the White House and the Pentagon.
00:31 That launch was met with new sanctions on the insular nation, and resulted in South Korea
00:36 suspending a military agreement it had entered into with the North in 2018.
00:40 Reuters reports that North Korea in turn exited the pact altogether,
00:44 and rebuilt some of its military buildings near the border with South Korea.
00:48 Kim Jong-un and his country have already announced their intentions to launch
00:51 as many as three satellites this year. What purpose those satellites will serve is unclear,
00:56 but it's a worrying notion considering the DPRK re-initiated its nuclear program.
01:01 In addition to space launches, North Korea has also had myriad successful intercontinental
01:06 cruise and other missile tests over the last couple of years as well.
