00:00So with convenience being a major factor that brands focus on, Ather has just launched the
00:13Rista as a family performance scooter.
00:16It comes with features to benefit us on the performance front and it comes with features
00:20to benefit us if we are a family oriented person.
00:23So let's see what all this scooter has to offer us and why it stands out in this upcoming
00:29electric segment.
00:30Welcome to Drivespark, I'm Vedant Johari and are you ready to get rizzed up by the Rista?
00:37Stay tuned to the full video to find out whether this is the scooter for you.
00:54The Ather Rista is available in two variants, the Rista S and the Rista Z.
00:59The Rista S is the base model and it comes equipped with a 2.9 kWh battery that's paired
01:05to a 4.3 kWh motor.
01:08This motor ensures a maximum range of 123 km and a top speed of 80 kmph.
01:14For a full charge, it takes just 8.5 hours for a full charge on the Rista S.
01:19On top of that, the Rista S comes with features like 8GB storage, 1GB RAM and a 7-inch deep
01:26view display.
01:27Now with the Pro Pack on the Rista S, you get three ride modes, auto hold, guide me
01:32home lights and much more, making every ride a whole lot easier.
01:36Now coming to the top-end variant of the Ather Rista Z.
01:39This is available with two battery options, a 2.9 kWh battery and a 3.7.
01:45This is the same 2.9 kWh battery that we also get on the Rista S.
01:49Now coming to the range, the 3.7 kWh battery bumps up our range to 160 km on a single charge.
01:57And not only this, our charging time has also been brought down from 8.5 hours for added
02:01convenience.
02:02So now on the feature front of things, the Rista Z comes with a 7-inch TFT display with
02:072GB RAM and 16GB of storage.
02:10Now once we opt for the Pro Pack, we get features like Magic Twist, Skid Control, Live Location
02:16Sharing and a whole lot of others.
02:18The Rista Z is available in 7 colour options, making it that much more available to a wider
02:23set of audience.
02:25So across both variants, the Rista S and the Rista Z, what features are common?
02:31Well we get Alexa Skills, Push Navigation, Ride Stories, Find My Scooter, Torn Theft
02:36Notifications and Navigation.
02:38Now on the Rista S, we only get turn-by-turn navigation.
02:42However on the Rista Z, we get proper Google Maps integrated navigation.
02:46Now apart from that, with the Pro Pack, the only difference that we get from the Rista
02:50S and the Rista Z is that on the Rista Z, we get Magic Twist and Skid Control.
02:55However on the Rista S, we don't find those features.
02:58But everything else that we get on the Rista S with the Pro Pack, we also find on the Rista Z.
03:08So now let's come to the design that we get on this new Ather Rista.
03:13So firstly, we have the black and white colour scheme that you can see.
03:17So at the front, we get this blacked out windscreen, a very small windscreen located right in the
03:22centre and we get this nice piano black finish located right on our front dome.
03:27Coming below that, we get this huge body panel located right in the front, which gives it
03:33a very boxy look, a very squared out look right in the front.
03:37Then we get these three-piece lights with a DRL located right in the centre.
03:43We also get integrated indicators as a part of these lighting.
03:47Then on top of the lights, we get the Ather badging in a very, very sophisticated and
03:51a very classy look.
03:53Now moving below that, we get telescopic suspensions in the front with a mudguard, 12-inch alloys
03:58and we get 200mm disc brakes in the front.
04:01So moving on from the front end of the scooter, we get a dual-tone finish throughout, this
04:05whole white and grey colour scheme.
04:07So looking at the scooter from the side, you can see, it has, it's a much bigger scooter,
04:13it's a much more visible scooter than the other ones on, in the market.
04:17Then coming to the seat, now this is the USP for the Rista.
04:22It comes with an extended seat, just giving comfort to whoever's riding and whoever's
04:27sitting on the pillion seat.
04:29And not only that, for the pillion, they also get an integrated backrest and this only comes
04:34on the Z variant, this is not found on the S variant of the Rista.
04:37Then the rear panels on the scooter come with the Rista badging and it shows you which variant
04:42you have, either the Z or the S.
04:44And finally, looking at the scooter right completely from the rear view, we again see
04:50the Ather badging in bold, located right in the centre and we get this brake light that's
04:55sort of like a connecting light bar that we see on cars, except for this is on a scooter.
05:00It spans all the way from the left to the right and it's connected throughout.
05:05Now, as a part of the light bar, we also get the indicators located on either side.
05:10Then finally, at the bottom of the Ather badging, we get a rear mudguard and we get 12-inch
05:16alloys at the rear.
05:17Now, the braking system that we get on the rear is a drum brake and that is a 130mm.
05:23Now for this whole scooter, we get a combi braking system without ABS, we don't get front
05:28ABS or rear ABS, however, with the combi braking system and with the help of the front
05:33disc brakes, you really don't lock up your front brake that often, however, the rear
05:37wheel under hard braking does lock up.
05:40So moving to the cockpit of the scooter, our screen is located right in the centre and
05:45this under harsh sunlight can get a little uncomfortable to read, but apart from that,
05:51the switchgear quality, screen quality, everything that we see is of top-notch.
05:58It's not lacking by any standard, you don't hear any rattling, nor do you find any unnecessary
06:03movement except for what is required.
06:06And apart from that, our front panel houses our charging socket and it has hooks for all
06:12our storage requirements.
06:15We have a hook located in the front and one right underneath the seat.
06:18So now sitting on the Ather Vista, the seat comfort is tremendous, it is absolutely comfortable
06:25and the whole riding posture, everything is very, very comfortable.
06:29Now coming in only at around 119 kgs, the Vista is extremely light, a very, very lightweight
06:37and because of that, it's super manoeuvrable and almost a brilliant scooter for the city.
06:43Now apart from that, we get two riding modes on the Vista, Smart Eco and Zip.
06:48Now on Smart Eco, we get a nice initial bite of torque, however, on the Zip mode, our initial
06:54torque is very linear and it gets strong towards the mid-range.
06:58So on the Smart Eco mode, we get most of our torque initially and other than that, as we
07:03keep increasing our speed, the torque gradually reduces.
07:06Now the sideview mirrors that we get on the Vista are quite big, quite chunky and it provides
07:13a lot of vision for the rider.
07:15The moment it's set properly, you can almost see everything behind you and it provides
07:20a very, very good field of vision.
07:22So coming to our display, we get a whole lot of features and a whole lot of readings.
07:28First off, on the Vista Z, we get Google Maps integration on this and on the Vista S, we
07:33only get turn-by-turn navigation.
07:35So looking at the home screen, we have our Google Maps, we have our ETA, we have the
07:41time, whether it's connected to Bluetooth, we have what device it's connected to, range
07:46to zero, how much percentage of our charge is left and our riding mode.
07:51Now apart from that, we have various options to choose from.
07:54One is our navigation.
07:55Now we can choose our navigation through this or through our phone.
07:59Apart from that, it shows us our connected devices, about the vehicle, such as vehicle
08:03details, the documents for the vehicle and other such readings.
08:08And finally, on the settings page, we have the option to turn our Bluetooth on or off,
08:14we have our display brightness, whether we want it dull or bright, then we also get the
08:19auto brightness setting, which will sense the light outside and automatically adjust
08:23how bright or how dim our display gets.
08:26And then coming to vehicle settings, we get magic twist, we get coasting region, auto
08:31holds, kid control, auto indicator, guide me home light, charging and fall safe.
08:37So what is fall safe?
08:38So once your scooter falls down, let's see to the left side, our right side is accessible
08:42for us to lift up.
08:43Now from the right side is also where we control our throttle.
08:46So when you're lifting it up, involuntarily, you might give some throttle input and that
08:50might throw you off guard once the scooter starts accelerating.
08:53So with fall safe, the scooter will sense once it's fallen and will cut off all connection
08:57to the throttle.
08:58So even if you're lifting it up and you give full throttle unexpectedly, the scooter will
09:02not respond to you at all.
09:04So now what's magic twist?
09:06Well, once you're riding in cities and in instances where you really are accelerating
09:11or using that much speed, so you can just twist the throttle the reverse direction to
09:15start braking.
09:16So there's a certain amount that you can twist the throttle and depending on how much
09:21you twist it in the opposite direction, that's how much the scooter is going to brake.
09:25So now, skid control, what's skid control?
09:28It's pretty much traction control, but what Ather calls traction control.
09:32However, when we feel traction control kicking, we do feel a drop in power, we do feel throttle
09:37cut off, but with skid control, it's been tried and tested by us.
09:41When you give full throttle on loose gravel such as this, you won't feel a drop in the
09:46power, you'll just feel the rear wheel gain traction and avoid any spinning or any slipping.
09:53So coming to the seat height of the Rista, the seat height is set at 780mm and the ground
09:58clearance is set at 165mm.
10:02Now coming to the boot space that we get on the Ather Rista, as I mentioned, the Rista
10:07is focused on performance, convenience and family.
10:11Now this is also another place where the Rista shines, the amount of boot space that we get.
10:19So we get 34 litres of boot space and not only that, we also get this really cool feature
10:25which is a charger on the rear and all you got to do is remove the cover of the charger
10:31and then we get a device from Ather which you can connect and charge whatever gadgets
10:37we have with us.
10:39Then apart from that, we also get this sort of carry bag for the rear which is a storage
10:44organiser.
10:45This is an additional feature that we get on the Rista and it looks something like this.
10:51So it fits perfectly into the thikki and it comes with all sorts of organisers inside
10:57this.
10:58So if you're going for a shopping spree or if you're going out to buy groceries, you
11:02can just come back, fit this, put whatever you buy into the storage organiser and once
11:06you reach home, instead of removing each bag one by one, you can just take this whole storage
11:12organiser and you can be on your way into your house.
11:15Apart from the main storage space on the Rista, we also get this small storage space in the
11:19front that can house your documents, a first aid kit, your phone and whatever other basic
11:25necessities you have.
11:27So while I'm opening the boot of the Rista, it gets a little uncomfortable.
11:32Now you might be wondering why.
11:34So we have this grabbing portion of the seat over here and while we open it, our hands
11:39do get stuck on the rear backrest.
11:43Now this design could be worked on a little more by Ather, however this is a really, really
11:49small flaw and no one's really going to look into it that much.
11:52Now at the front, we also get an additional storage option called the frunk and it's another
11:57bag similar to the storage organiser, however it's closed, it's all closed compartments
12:02and it sits right with our front body panel.
12:11All in all, this was the Ather Rista and I hope you guys enjoyed the video.
