00:02 There are a number of flood warnings in place across Derbyshire today,
00:06 with heavy rain forecast throughout the afternoon and into tomorrow.
00:09 The Met Office is warning of possible travel disruption and localised flooding,
00:14 with fast-flowing or deep floodwater causing a potential danger to life.
00:18 Forecasters add that spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and road closures,
00:23 and some communities may be cut off by flooded roads.
00:27 Flood warnings have been issued for the Lower Derwent River at Dalydale, Matlock and Belper,
00:32 as well as the River Erewash near Eorlcaston and Long Eaton.

00:41 Derbyshire County Council has had its decision to close 10 children's centres upheld,
00:48 despite calls from opposition councillors and protesters
00:52 who had urged the local authority to reconsider the controversial closures.
00:56 The Council approved the closure of the children's centres during a Cabinet meeting,
01:00 with over 100 potential job cuts and the disestablishment of its early help service
01:04 and the introduction of a new family help service to achieve a £3.9 million savings target.
01:09 And despite Labour councillors' claims that the Cabinet had not considered the impact
01:14 and possible subsequent extra costs, it was confirmed at a scrutiny meeting that the decision
01:19 will stand after a majority of councillors felt there had been 'no breach'.
01:24 The Cabinet agreed on April 29th to reduce the Council's 22 children's centres to 12,
01:29 with closures to centres at Home Hall and Old Whittington in Chesterfield,
01:33 Alfredton, Ironville, Langley Mill, Bowlesover, Hadfield, Gamesley, Matlock and Charnos and Ilkeston.
01:40 However, it has agreed to retain 12 centres including at Heaner, Glossop, Fairfield at
01:46 Buxton, Brimmington near Chesterfield, Bird Home in Chesterfield, Alice's View at North Wingfield,
01:52 Shirebrook, Cresswell, Ekington, Cotman Hay at Ilkeston, Long Eaton and in Woodville.
