Four individuals were each fined RM500 after pleading guilty to endangering others by cooking using a gas stove at a petrol station in Genting Highlands on May 12. 00:14Fadlizil Ikram, Nurfatin Erdina Shahrulnizam and Nur Anis Saleh, all aged 24, along with

00:20Nur Azira Azman, 23, pleaded guilty to the charge before Magistrate Nadratun Nayem Zainan

00:26on Tuesday.

00:28The four of them were charged with cooking instant noodles using a gas stove at a petrol

00:32station in Taman Cendawan near Genting Highlands at around 1.30 a.m. on May 12.

00:38All the accused were convicted under Section 336 of the Penal Code, read together with

00:44Section 34 of the same Act, which carries a maximum prison sentence of three months,

00:49a fine of up to 500 ringgit, or both.

00:53During mitigation, the accused requested a lower fine, but the prosecution argued

00:58for an appropriate punishment to serve as a deterrent to them and the public.

01:03Magistrate Nadratun imposed a 500 ringgit fine for each individual or three days' imprisonment

01:09if they failed to pay.

01:11All four paid the fine.

01:13The case gained attention after a video of the group cooking at the petrol station went

01:17viral on TikTok and other social media platforms, provoking public outrage.
