00:00According to the charity Missing People, over 70,000 young people are reported missing each
00:07year in the UK. Some of the most notorious missing person cases in the UK include the
00:12disappearance of Madeleine McCann, who has been missing for 17 years as of this May,
00:18the disappearance of 7-year-old Amina Khan, who was last seen in 2011, and the disappearance
00:23of Ben Needham, a toddler who vanished while on holiday with his family in Greece in 1991.
00:29International Missing Children's Day falls on May 25th, and on this day, charities urge
00:34members of the public to take to social media and share images of those who are still missing
00:39in order to raise awareness, whilst also encouraging others to celebrate stories of those who have
00:44been found.
00:45Whilst 52% of resolved incidents involving missing children end within eight hours, the
00:51UK Missing Persons Unit did record that there were over 1,500 children still long-term missing.
00:57The symbol of IMCD is the forget-me-not flower, which encourages those to continue the search
01:02for those who are still yet to be found.
