In an interview with Euronews, gender equality experts believe that the European institutions remain abstract elements in women's lives and a space fuelled by gender stereotypes.

00:23 For a lot of women, the EU institutions remains an abstract irrelevance to their lives.

00:28 In Europe, there are 10 million women more than men, which means we are the biggest population

00:38 in Europe. But still, we are underrepresented.

00:43 European feminist organizations are unhappy at what they consider a lack of investment

00:48 to respond back to misinformation and anti-gender movement.

00:52 Online backgrounds amplify conspiracy theories and disinformation have involved the far right

00:58 and anti-gender movement, allowing them to form strong social networks and assure AI

01:04 generative disinformation through algorithmic bias.

01:08 And these anti-gender networks, they are well funded, they have a wealth of resources to

01:14 tap into, and they are using that to create campaigns and bots on social media.

01:19 And in comparison to the feminist movement, we are underfunded and under-resourced and

01:23 we face incredible difficulties in trying to combat this.

01:27 Women who decide to enter a political career have to weigh up greater exposure to violence

01:32 more than ever before. Psychological, physical and online violence are some of the problems

01:37 they face that can lead to them giving up politics or becoming less vocal.

01:43 I have noticed that all the attacks that concern me are attacks that aim to delegitimize my

01:57 words, to discredit what I say, and always with an orientation that is targeted at my

02:05 gender identity, the fact that I am a woman.

02:08 A lot of criticism, a lot of insults, remarks about the physical, which always aims to create,

02:15 to arouse an environment of fear, an environment that destabilizes.
