Another man has been detained over the acid-splashing attack on national footballer Faisal Halim.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the suspect, in his late 30s, was arrested in Bandar Baru Bangi on Monday (May 6) and will be remanded to assist with the investigation.

00:22He added that the motive behind the attack remains under investigation.
00:27Commissioner Hussain said the first suspect, a man in his 20s, will be released as he
00:31did not have anything to do with the attack.
00:34He was detained in Pandan Indah Sunday night, as his motorcycle registration number matched
00:39the one traced at the crime scene.
00:43Investigations revealed that the real culprit used a fake registration number, thus the
00:48first man detained will be released.
00:50However, he will be re-arrested after testing positive for drugs.
00:55Meanwhile, Faizal, who is also known as Mickey, is reported to be in critical condition and
01:00may require more surgery due to the extent of his injuries.
01:05The 26-year-old is now being treated for fourth-degree burns instead of second-degree burns, which
01:11he had previously been diagnosed with.
01:14Selangor Football Association Deputy President Shahril Mokhtar said Faizal underwent an initial
01:20procedure on the night of the attack on May 5, but would need at least a second operation.
01:26He added that the footballer is now unable to communicate clearly after the surgery and
01:31will be in the ICU for 10 days.
