00:00 Dozens of schools in India's national capital region were evacuated on Wednesday after they
00:08 received a bomb threat by email. More than 50 schools in Delhi and the adjoining suburb
00:13 of Noida received the threatening email triggering panic among parents and prompting schools
00:19 to send students home.
00:20 "Schools have taken action against the administration and children have been sent home. Checking
00:30 is ongoing in all schools."
00:33 Parents stood outside the gates of schools across the region waiting to pick up children
00:37 as police teams, dog squads and bomb disposal squads checked the premises. The hoax affected
00:43 thousands of school children from grades 1 to 12.
00:46 "The school took a very prompt action after it received email. All the children have been
00:52 securely removed and everybody is safe."
00:55 Delhi police later released a statement saying, "Thorough checks were conducted in the affected
01:00 schools but it appears that the calls seem to be a hoax." Police did not release any
01:05 further details about the threat.
