00:18 It's so fun to be in this pastel themed room as well.

00:25 I tried to channel my Kentucky Derby.
00:26 You have partnered with Churchill Downs for the 150th Kentucky Derby.
00:29 I cannot believe that.

00:31 I have to like re-read that.
00:32 I was like really 150?
00:33 I was sold in America.
00:34 But this has become such a big iconic fashion event.
00:40 Why do you think that is?
00:42 Because it's the beginning of the season.
00:44 It's like this and it's not just there for the horses.
00:48 Yes, it's the most exciting two minutes race in fashion.
00:51 It's the most exciting two minutes of sports.
00:54 But there's also this incredible entertainment.
00:57 Cocktails, drinks, it's such a fun fanfare moment.
01:01 And people can really join in whether you're actually attending the Kentucky Derby or you're
01:05 watching from home.
01:06 And the fashion, it's spring.
01:08 It's like the change of the season.
01:10 Everyone's coming out in their new, they all want to twirl in their new stuff.
01:14 So you can do it at Churchill Downs or if you're doing your own watch party.
01:18 Yeah, no, it's so true.
01:19 Everybody's coming out of their winter seasonal depression.
01:22 Like here I am again, spring.
01:24 It's kind of like the people's red carpet.
01:26 It really is.
01:27 I love that idea behind it and that people at home should really embrace it and dip into
01:31 new trends and try something new for spring.
01:33 Yeah, definitely.
01:34 I know we said before that it's not really about the hats, but let's be honest, it's
01:37 really about the hats.
01:40 So how can we rock a Kentucky Derby hat at home?
01:44 There are so many different styles.
01:46 Right now, we're seeing a lot of trends towards the bigger hats, the sculptural hats, and
01:52 also wide band hats, which is kind of something we've seen on a lot of runways such as Prada.
01:58 And that's trickling down quite a lot.
01:59 So come the big day, I think we'll see a lot of various different types of hats.
02:03 There are many different things trending.
02:04 We're seeing a lot of hats on the runway.
02:06 It's kind of interesting because we've gone from this place of stealth wealth, kind of
02:12 like quiet luxury, but it's also been a little bit devoid of maybe personality.
02:18 And the hat is an instant way to add personality to any look.
02:22 So for somebody at home who has something quite plain, guess what's going to make it
02:27 look fun?
02:28 Something like this.
02:29 I mean, this is great.
02:30 I mean, I just have to.
02:31 I mean, look how great this is.
02:32 Oh, look.
02:33 Look how this was not planned, but we're both matching in our colors.
02:36 I love it.
02:37 You know what?
02:38 One great trick with hats is we'll start with the hat first.
02:42 Hats first.
02:43 Just remember that when you're choosing a hat, are you going to wear a hat?
02:46 Start with that and then maybe outfit around it.
02:48 Interesting.
02:49 Okay.
02:50 Hats first.
02:51 And then think about balance.
02:52 So it's all about balance and counterbalancing.
02:53 So if you've got a super flamboyant hat, you maybe don't want to do a super flamboyant
03:00 dress or outfit too.
03:02 Got it.
03:03 Okay.
03:04 Got a more streamlined sculptural moment happening on the head, then maybe it's time to do a
03:07 fun printed dress there.
03:09 And also when it comes to balance, try to find the right shape face.
03:13 This right hat for your shape face is something that a lot of people ask.
03:17 And I think again, it's about counterbalancing your own line.
03:19 So if you've got a square face, go for something that has a shallower crown and a round brim.
03:26 So rounded edges counterbalance the squareness of a face.
03:29 And then if you've got a longer face, you can obviously go with something a little bit
03:32 more big brim to giving it more width.
03:36 It's just literally smoke and mirrors.
03:38 But when it comes to trends, bright pink sculptural pillbox hats, you name it, it goes.
03:46 So we talked about the hats, but what kind of patterns are we going to see when it comes
03:49 to dresses?
03:50 Is it all about florals again?
03:52 Oh, yes.
03:53 Thank you.

03:55 Florals.
03:56 Yes.
03:57 Look, florals for spring, groundbreaking.
03:58 Best quote ever.
03:59 However, it's not just about smaller florals.
04:00 We're going to have to maybe blow the floral up a bit.
04:01 Okay, I'm going to blow it up a little bit.
04:02 We're going to go jumbo florals and specifically the rose.
04:03 Okay.
04:04 The one for the roses.
04:05 We're going to end up, I mean, this is actually some great examples.
04:16 We've seen some amazing looks on the runways, such as Valentino Couture.
04:21 Again, a major, major runway, but that's then trickled down to the red carpet.
04:26 And you've seen people like Emily Blunt rocking an amazing prod dress with a giant 3D rose
04:31 here.
04:32 So it's all about the rose becoming lifelike almost.
04:36 And then that's definitely transcended into our everyday.
04:39 And you can see these fabulous hats here.

04:42 This is actually one of the dresses.
04:44 All these pieces are actually featured in our Style Guide, which is such a great read
04:49 and really great inspiration for anyone who is attending or not.

04:58 And as I said, it's like a 3D rose.

05:13 You've got this, right?

05:15 This almost mirrors this ruffle here, mirrors the ruffle here.

05:21 And then pop the pink bag with it.
05:22 There's your pink bag and you're good to go.
05:23 I'm actually leaving here with this entire outfit.
05:25 I know.
05:27 And then we have, yes, the plait.
05:28 But this is, the rose is going to be the big one.

05:41 I'm definitely, yeah.
05:42 Definitely, yeah.

05:44 And I love how colors, like this glacial blue is kind of a big color for the spring too,

05:50 Absolutely, yeah.
05:51 It's kind of that perfect transitional color.
05:52 Sure.
05:53 You know, in between many different pops of pastels for always.
05:56 Kentucky Derby is the pastels, right?
05:58 But I think we're seeing this blue color really pop on the runway again on red carpets.
06:03 Lupita, you've seen it at Louis Vuitton, Bottega.
06:06 And when I mention all these big celebrities and big names, it trickles down.
06:09 Yeah.
06:10 And we'll all be rocking it.
06:11 It's a really good transitional color.
06:13 And I think actually it suits every skin tone.
06:16 I don't know anyone, but glacial icy blue doesn't really suit.
06:22 And what about bags?
06:23 When it comes to bags, less is more because you don't really, obviously you don't want
06:26 to carry around a big bulky bag when you're at the Kentucky Derby.
06:30 I'm loving the shapes.
06:31 Yes.
06:32 The most sculptural, geometric shapes.
06:33 This is a beautiful box bag.
06:34 This is by Radley.
06:35 Again, something that's in our Style Guide.
06:37 And I'm obviously equestrian.
06:38 You can't get more than this.
06:41 And then back to the 3D floor trend I was talking about.
06:44 It literally is a rose.
06:46 Yeah.
06:47 It's beautiful.
06:48 Gorgeous, right?
06:49 And you can fit apps.
06:50 You can actually fit quite a fair bit in this because of the width of them.
06:53 You've got to think practicalities as well when it comes to the Derby.
06:56 It's a long day.
06:57 You've got to have your phone in there.
06:59 You've got to have your lipsticks in there.
07:00 You've got to have your wallet in there.
07:01 Well, actually, probably that's it, right?
07:02 Maybe keys.
07:03 Yeah, maybe keys.
07:04 I love it.
07:05 Are there any other big trends for spring that you're loving?
07:08 I think when it comes to shoes, again, you want to think functionality.
07:11 When you go into the Kentucky Derby or even if you're watching at home, get comfortable.
07:16 Wedges are definitely...
07:17 You don't want to be going in the grass with a heel.
07:19 But also we're seeing this wonderful return to the ballet flat.
07:23 A mule, a loafer, a Mary Jane.
07:26 I love to hear that.
07:27 All really comfortable.
07:28 Comfort is key.
07:29 I think nimble.
07:30 I think nimble is youthful and youthful is what you want to be feeling when you're running
07:34 around Churchill Downs.
07:36 Definitely.
07:37 And then there's the prep school vibe is kind of coming back a little bit too, right?
07:40 Probably one of the biggest trends for spring, summer, '24 is the prep school trend.
07:45 We think we're talking polo shirts, preppy plaids.
07:50 This is blazers.
07:52 This also featured in our style guide.
07:55 Beautiful.
07:56 A great example of a preppy plaid.
07:57 You can put a t-shirt under this.
08:00 I think there's many ways that both men and women can jump into the preppy plaid.
08:05 The preppy trend.
08:06 Be that on a color scheme or on a print.
08:09 But absolutely one of the biggest trends that we've seen all over the runway is from product
08:13 and you need digital dance.
