United States: Campus anti-war protesters dig in as universities and police take action

00:07 Negotiations with the school have been underway since Friday, but its student group says talks

00:12 have hit an impasse.

00:13 "At the heart of this action, at the heart of this encampment is the wish for a complete

00:18 divestment and boycott of institutions that are complicit in Israel's genocide.

00:24 Despite this, the university has proposed only further engagement with the apartheid

00:30 state."

00:31 Last Thursday, Columbia summoned NYPD to dismantle the mobilizations, a decision that sparked

00:36 a wildfire of protests at colleges across the country.

00:40 Hundreds have been arrested at numerous universities since, what started with just a few dozen

00:45 protesters transforming into a nationwide movement, from NYU, Emory University and Yale,

00:51 spreading all the way to the West Coast.

00:54 "We're here once again fighting for our demands for divestment for the Palestinian people

01:02 and for the safety of the Palestinian students at Stanford and around Stanford."

01:07 The protesters are demanding their schools to cut financial ties to Israel and divest

01:11 from companies they say are enabling the conflict.

01:14 And the movement shows no signs of slowing down any time soon.

01:18 say they won't stop until their voices are heard.
