Remaining cold for the rest of the week with below average temperatures, overnight frosts and snow. Heavy rain will push northwards over the weekend bringing less cold air.

00:07 Showery outbreaks of rain on Thursday will sink southwards across England and Wales and

00:10 some of these may be heavy for the south east during the evening.

00:14 Brighter for Scotland and Northern Ireland with sunny spells and a scattering of showers

00:18 but it will be a cold day so some of these showers may be wintry over the hills.

00:24 On Thursday night temperatures will drop below freezing for many areas north of the Midlands

00:29 and a frost will form.

00:31 These cold and frosty conditions will then greet many of us on Friday morning but it

00:35 will be a bright day with lots of sunshine.

00:38 Patchy cloud will build though and showers will develop, mostly for the north and east

00:42 and again some could be wintry over the hills.

00:45 There will also be showers for south west England and some of these will be really heavy.

00:51 On Saturday outbreaks of rain across southern counties of England will push northwards and

00:55 eastwards during the day but will turn increasingly light and patchy.

01:00 Bright for Scotland and Northern Ireland with sunny spells and a scattering of showers and

01:03 again some will be wintry for the hills.

01:07 Now as that rain pushes northwards it will also drag with it some less cold air so temperatures

01:13 will remain below the average for the time of year but in any sunshine and light winds

01:17 over the weekend it may feel quite pleasant.
