00:00When you use the odds and the conversation around JJ, I think he is the most pivotal

00:07piece because who takes him and where?

00:10Right now, the Minnesota Vikings are the favorite franchise to select JJ McCarthy DRS, but they

00:15currently have the 11th overall pick, and if he's a minus 280 favorite to be a top five

00:21selection, he's not falling all the way to 11 if you catch my drift.

00:25Yeah, you're going to have to move up here, no doubt about it, but also you are talking

00:28about one of those guys that was the high riser of the draft where we knew he was a

00:31good college quarterback and probably translated to the NFL, but that translated to a possible

00:36top five pick or top 15 pick.

00:38We didn't know, but everybody's loved to have all season workouts, get him in front of the

00:41chalkboard, and it makes sense, and over the past couple of days here, Ben, we had Boomer

00:44Esiason and Phil Simms on, and the questions come up here is how do we evaluate JJ McCarthy?

00:49Because if you just put him in a room, he's going to win you over.

00:52If you ask any of the teammates, and we quite frankly had a couple of his teammates on here

00:55on the early line, they're like, man, you'd run through a brick wall for this guy.

00:59He's the consummate winner, and it's also, he's not like a sixth year senior through

01:02COVID where he's 25 years old coming in.

01:05He's a young guy, which means you're going to get maybe 15 years out of this guy, but

01:08the questions come up is most of the times we look at quarterbacks coming through college,

01:12the Caleb Williams, like, did you see the numbers they put up?

01:144,500 passing yards, 45 touchdown passes.

01:18You don't get that from JJ McCarthy.

01:19It's more measured like I play within the system that my coach gives us with the best

01:23chance to win.

01:24I can throw it a lot, but they didn't ask me to do that at Michigan.

01:27So the questions are, how does he translate into the NFL when, Ben, you can't throw for

01:31150 yard games and try to win.

01:33That's what Justin Fields did in Chicago, and he's no longer playing for Chicago at

01:37this point.

01:38So that's the question.
