Shocking footage shows beach huts being blown into the sea during Storm Pierrick.

Huge waves and battering winds in Cornwall have washed newly painted huts on Castle Beach, Falmouth, into the ocean.

Falmouth Coastguard had issued a warning for strong winds, tides and storm surges and a Met Office yellow weather warning was in place.

The video, taken by local resident Stacey Lewin at 6:40pm last night, shows at least two colourful beach huts being swept away into the ocean.

Stacey, who only lives moments away from the dramatic scene, said: "I was quite shocked at just how bad the weather was.

"I only live five minutes away and the weather didn't seem that bad.

"When the huts got pulled in, that was a sad moment.

"They've only just been put back and re-painted.

"Sad times but just shoes how powerful and dangerous the sea can be."

A yellow warning for wind was in place across the South West, from the storm named Pierrick by Meteofrance, until 06:00am today.

It included warning the public of potential risks from beach materials and debris being thrown from the sea, as well as possible power cuts and travel delays.

The Environment Agency announced that there were 12 flood warnings across Devon and Cornwall.
