Newcastle Herald and Out of the Square have partnered to showcase the the region's incredible businesses in the 'Innovation Ready' series.

00:21 The intersection of those points, that's what innovation is.

00:23 (Male 5) It's about taking that and then with some creativity and some curiosity

00:27 we can then enhance that and take that to the next level.

00:38 (Male 7) As leaders I think it is our duty to actually set up

00:41 an environment where people feel safe to experiment.

00:47 (Female 9) And I feel like all of those little components are innovation.

00:51 (Male 10) We need to be looking for synergies in terms of a circular economy.

00:54 (Male 11) Innovation, it can be so broad and the terminology can be so different

00:57 and everyone looks at it slightly different but a lot of it really comes down to problem solving.

01:02 (Male 13) Anyone can have an idea, but innovation is about

01:05 turning that idea into commercial business.

01:08 (Male 14) It's really exciting times in our region at the moment.

01:10 (Male 15) The Hunter can be a global player in innovation as a whole.

01:14 (Female 16) There's a buzz, there's like this energy that there's something new about to begin.

01:18 (Male 17) Innovation ecosystem in the Hunter Valley is second to none.

01:21 (Female 18) We really want to make sure that we're keeping the skills local.

01:24 (Male 19) I have a lot of confidence in where we're going.

01:27 So there's just so much opportunity for Newcastle.

01:29 (Female 20) We have all the right ingredients within the Hunter region

01:32 to be able to play and we do play on the main stage in the world.
